The British Museum, a globally ranked institution renowned for preserving history, culture, and innovation, is on the hunt for a Senior Photographer to join its Photography and Imaging team on a permanent full-time basis. This role will be anchored in Bloomsbury.

Role Summary:

Role Requirements:

  • Provable excellent photographic and studio skills gained from similar environments.
  • A formal professional qualification in photography, or equivalent degree.
  • Advanced knowledge of photographic processes and technologies.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Capture One, and other industry-standard software.
  • Experience in line management, planning, and time management, with excellent communication skills.

The British Museum is offering an exciting opportunity to join our Photography and Imaging team as a Senior Photographer. This role is based in Bloomsbury and is a full-time, permanent position. As a Senior Photographer, you will be responsible for creating high-quality photographs of objects in our collection to meet client briefs and support the Museum's public programs and business needs.

The role: You will produce professional quality photography and deliver assignments to deadline. This includes advanced operation of professional studio equipment and lighting, observing best practices in collections security and object handling. You will also process images as per our photography and imaging workflow procedures and apply professional digital standards. Knowledge of 3D processes, infrared, ultraviolet, and timelapse photography techniques are desirable.

Job requirements: Candidates should have excellent photographic and studio skills, gained from relevant experience in similar studio environments and organizations. You should have a formal professional qualification in photography, degree or equivalent, and advanced knowledge of photographic processes and technologies. Practical understanding of digital capture and color management, along with proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Capture One, and other industry-standard software is required. Previous line management experience and excellent planning, time management, and communication skills are essential.
