Role Summary:
- Providing strategic direction and leadership aiming at increasing activity/involvement levels and addressing inequality.
- Leading a geographical cluster of partnerships in the East of England.
- Working with various organisations to combat physical inactivity through a place model.
Role Requirements:
- Experience with place-based whole system approaches and navigating a changing political landscape.
- Proven ability to create and maintain senior level partnerships.
- Knowledge of successfully managing teams within a matrix environment.
- Prior experience of working with local communities, and a deep understanding of issues of inequality impacting physical activity.

We are Sport England and we are looking for a Strategic Lead, Place Relationships (East) to join our team. The role involves providing strategic direction and leadership for our work to increase activity levels and tackle inequalities in specific places throughout the East of England. You will be part of a team working in areas of greatest need across England. Your responsibilities will include leading a geographical cluster of place partnerships (East of England), working with and through Active Partnerships into places engaging Local Authority, voluntary and third sector organisations to tackle physical inactivity and associated inequalities through our place model.
Job requirements include a strong working knowledge and experience of place-based whole system approaches, ability to navigate a changing political and strategic landscape, proven ability to create collaborative senior level relationships, and experience of successfully building internal relationships and managing teams within a matrix approach. You should also have experience of working with and empowering local communities to develop services, and a deep empathy and understanding of the issues of inequality and how they impact on peoples ability to be regularly physically active.
In addition to a competitive salary of £59,800 per annum, we offer generous benefits. The role is based in Loughborough, but we offer flexible working arrangements including homeworking or a hybrid office-based model. Regular travel in the East of England will be required.
