The Young Foundation

Social Innovation Business Lead

The UK faces significant social, economic and environmental challenges, which demand urgent collective action. Today, The Young Foundation’s mission is to develop better-connected communities and shape a fairer future. Together with individuals, organisations and policy-makers, we explore new ways to tackle the issues people tell us they care about. We believe that stronger communities, where people have influence, will secure the greatest wellbeing in society. That’s why we work with local people; to understand the issues affecting them, involve them in research, and innovate with them to drive positive change.

We are looking for a Social Innovation and Business Lead to join the growing Innovation and Practice team. The role will primarily focus on leading The Young Academy Investment Fund, while also shaping The Young Foundation’s renewed work to support socially-minded businesses.

The Young Academy Investment Fund has provided 14 early-stage, high-impact education ventures with the capital and support they need to scale up.

A core part of the role will be supporting the growth in impact for a range of social ventures connected to the fund, tracking financial performance of both the ventures and the fund, and managing the relationship with the fund’s Investment Committee, keeping them updated on the overall performance of the fund and ventures as the investments mature.

In addition, you will work across the Innovation and Practice team portfolio to build and support The Young Foundation’s wider network of ventures and social change-makers, with a particular focus on connecting social ventures and socially motivated business to each other to build a movement of change across the business and enterprise community.
