Job Purpose

Arbor’s Senior Product Designer is responsible for designing simple, contextual, and delightful user flows and interfaces for Arbor’s broad set of users. This will be achieved through evidence-based prioritisation, well structured user research, analysis of feedback, iterative prototyping and testing to arrive at the best possible solutions. The Senior Product Designer develops and maintains a best in class design system and UX framework, underpinned by design principles, in order to deliver a consistent user experience across the product. S/he will have responsibility for working closely with our Head of Product to set a vision for our user experience to guide decision-making.

The Senior Product Designer must be an advocate for UX best practices, and have requisite experience developing and rolling out Design Systems as well as providing guidance and support to Product Managers to ensure standards are consistently met. The role will work closely with Product Marketing and our Marketing Designer to ensure consistency of brand and tone across the product and marketing materials. 

Please note this role will involve travel to customer sites, and engineering team locations (Leeds, London, Belgrade)

A day in the life of a Product Designer at Arbor

  • Working with Product Managers to derive the Product Vision, ensuring a focus on improving UX and maintaining a market leading user experience
  • Owning the Arbor Design System, encapsulating a set of UX best practices alongside the Arbor brand. 
  • Working with the engineers to implement the Design System, ensuring guidelines followed and component libraries used.
  • Providing support to Product Managers to map user journeys and ensure consistency and delightful journeys
  • Working with Product Marketing and our Marketing Designer to ensure consistency across our product and marketing collateral
  • Work with the Engineers to help implement UX features according to the rules set in the Design System, and coach into a design-first mentality 
  • Create appropriate documentation and facilitating knowledge sharing of UX principles and best practices
  • Be an evangelist for UX across all teams, advocating for customer-centric design and delightful experiences

What you'll be doing

  • Develop and own Arbor’s Design System, underpinned by the vision and design principles

  • Work with the teams to implement the Design System, ensuring component libraries are utilised correctly

  • Provide support to Product Managers to map user journeys, ensuring consistent and delightful journeys

  • Work with Product Managers to deliver the broader Product Vision, ensuring this is translated into an accompanying design vision and principles

  • Work with Product Marketing and our Marketing Designer to ensure consistency across our product and marketing collateral

  • Work with Engineers to help implement UX features according to the rules set in the Design System,

  • Coach teams into a ‘design-first’ mentality

  • Create appropriate documentation where required and to facilitate knowledge sharing of UX principles and best practices

  • Clearly communicate design decisions, offering rationale

  • Be an evangelist for UX, advocating for delightful experiences

Your performance will be measured against:

  • User satisfaction - Increase NPS/CSAT for key personas

  • Feature Adoption and Engagement - Increase feature adoption

  • Product Lead Time - Decrease product lead time from ideation to delivery

Positive 360 Feedback - via Product Managers, the Front End team and Engineering


About you

  • Great communicator who enjoys working at pace

  • Experience rapid prototyping using HTML/CSS

  • Knowledge of industry standard design tools, such as Sketch, Figma, Invision, Photoshop, or Illustrator

  • Strong understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and solutions

  • Experience building and owning html/css style guide

  • Experience of creating and owning a complete Design System

  • Experience of developing UX for enterprise B2B software

  • Experience working alongside Product Managers to develop the user experience

  • Considerable experience conducting sound user research and usability testing, including creating wireframes, storyboards and process flows

  • Considerable experience presenting ideas to and collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders including executive teams
