What's the job?

We are now looking for an enthusiastic Quality Assurance Manager to join our Buying team and help Papier achieve our mission to inspire people to connect with each other more often and in more meaningful ways.

Reporting to the Buying Director, day to day you will Develop a cohesive QA process to ensure product quality, safety and legality standards are met for product ranges across both UK and US markets.

You’ll be confident to Implement and maintain efficient administrative formats to record and track product development and testing. Collaborating with Buying and Design teams to develop the product, as well as delivering the sourcing/sustainability strategy.

Experienced with working with Suppliers, you will be able to establish and maintain excellent communication with suppliers to ensure QA procedures are followed in producing the range.

What will you do?

  • Review and comment on all initial and pre-production samples, requesting and signing off all product/safety testing/labelling and certification within a critical timeframe
  • Ensure that QA processes are suitably accounted for within the product critical path to meet product launch dates, taking a commercial view where necessary to meet deadlines and manage costs
  • Create supplier guidelines to ensure consistency across sourcing, production, testing, packaging, auditing
  • Undertake necessary supplier/factory visits as and when required.
  • Conduct warehouse inspections as and when required, ensuring suppliers are complying with set AQL
  • Review and analyse customer returns data, sharing information with relevant teams and taking action to improve where necessary
  • Support the marketing/brand teams with accurate product messaging
  • Communicate regularly with suppliers via Zoom to monitor the production process, ensuring correct procedures are followed and troubleshooting any issues as they arise in a timely manner
  • Work closely with our Finance and Buying teams to understand a supplier’s account status, considering credits and debits prior to making decisions
  • Communicating regularly with Buying/Design at each stage of product development and production, highlighting any issues which may affect orders and delivery dates


About you

You will succeed in this role if you:

  • Have proven years of experience in QA/QC, Product Testing or Product regulatory/legislative compliance experience
  • Experience in liaising with suppliers including offshore & Far East suppliers and manufacturers to ensure product requirements & compliance are met.
  • Factory auditing (familiar with vetting factories for correct accreditations including ISO, SMETA & BSCI) for onboarding and maintaining a growing supplier base.
  • Setting UK & US quality assurance standards to ensure we meet & qualify for both countries.
  • Strong people skills with an autonomous and proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • Structured, process driven and analytical approach
  • Ability to read, analyse and interpret data to identify key themes and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Experience in developing and delivering effective and persuasive presentations or written communications to suppliers, buyers, leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Advanced product knowledge, across multiple product categories particularly Stationery and Gifting, to effectively assess products for predictable patterns of performance, customer expectations and potential failures.
  • Experience in liaising with suppliers including offshore & Far East suppliers and manufacturers to ensure product requirements & compliance are met.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively across multiple markets, to contribute and lead quality-related project work.
