We're looking for a superstar analyst to be the first full time member of our DaBIFI team (that's Data, Business Intelligence & Finance). This is an awesome role for anyone wanting to help drive a rapidly scaling business to the next level of professionalism by getting core processes rigght.

The team is newly created and you will work closely with everyone in the business. Over time the role will evolve candidate dependent in the finance/accounting direction, or strategic/planning, or data analytics.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Running weekly and monthly pieces of analysis to help everyone understand business performance easily and be confident that it's based on complete data.
  • Running weekly and monthly processes in Xero, our accounting software, to reconcile and categorise our cash incomes and expenses.
  • Inspecting and cross-checking our suppliers' and customers' bills with stock movements, services received, and activities in store to ensure all if correct, challenging where not, and correctly capturing the right information in our records.
  • Being a "business partner" to all teams, helping them to assess cost/benefit decisions for example optimal stock holding and the right promotional mechanics
  • Assisting the CEO in creating monthly reports and analysing business performance and comparing that to budgets and forecasts.
  • Assisting all parts of the business with budgeting and forecasting
  • Please note: Scrumbles is advertising the same role under two job titles: Business Analyst; and Finance Analyst. This is simply to reach a broad audience, but all candidates will be assessed together in the same process and against the same criteria.

We'd love to meet someone who

  • Has a minimum of 1-year experience in an analytical role. This could be in industry, or professional services, or as part of a university sandwich course.
  • Enjoys breaking down problems and solving them
  • Has strong instincts for prioritising and making calls between doing one-off bits of work quickly versus investing the time to make a solution into a repeatable process.
  • Is comfortable using systems and learning new systems quickly, with an existing strong foundation in Microsoft Excel
  • Can manipulate data from many sources and cross-reference it
  • Is happy and comfortable with full ownership and responsibility over regular processes
  • Takes the initiative to help with analytics or process improvements in any part of the business
  • Enjoys helping others solve problems and coaching others
  • Can explain problems or outcomes to others, informally day-to-day, and formally in documents or presentations
  • Has an interest in financial concepts and can understand how diligent and efficient financial record-keeping and analysis generates value for a business (note: no specialist accounting knowledge if required)
  • (Optional) working toward an accounting qualification. Study support is available.
  • Bonus points for previous FMCG experience; knowledge of overhauling systems and processes; prior use of Xero accounting software or data visualisation tools; any data science or engineering skills
