A bit about Field:

To reach Net Zero, we need to solve big challenges. Field will fund, build and run the renewable infrastructure we need to tackle these challenges. At Field, we will show that batteries are a totally viable part of our energy infrastructure - now, not in some distant future.

And, we have ambitious plans to become the defining new clean energy player in Europe over the next few years, gradually expanding beyond batteries into new asset types

The role:

The Analysis Director is a critical role for Field. Fundamental analysis of markets is key to where Field builds new energy infrastructure.

At Field, we aim to identify the market fundamentals (investment case for storage) ahead of the competition, and enter and/or exit early, ensuring we deliver higher returns from these markets as a result (rather than just relying on 3rd party analysis / historic revenues).

The role will lead our fundamental modelling team, building out our flexibility supply and demand models. These will output expected revenues by market, forming the basis of our investment cases for markets. Amongst many variables they will forecast generation mix, storage build out, price spreads, and run different scenarios, forming a key input into investment/divestment decisions.

The role will be a key part of the executive management team, providing key input on strategic topics. This is a great opportunity for an experienced hire to build a scalable fundamentals model, process, approach, and team from scratch.

Below is an overview of the main responsibilities. However, this is by no means an exhaustive list and we expect the role to evolve as we continue to scale up.

Key Responsibilities

  1. New market models: Manage the build of our flexibility supply and demand models,
identifying the investment case for each new market. Output of this fundamental modelling will be the revenue projections for grid scale battery storage per market. We will build out of market models in the following order:

    1. UK

    2. Europe (Germany, Italy, Iberia, Benelux, and Greece initially)

    3. Other emerging markets

  2. Maintain existing models: Maintain standardised models across territories, which can be aggregated up and have standard outputs that feed into our short term battery optimisation platform

  3. Architecture and databases: Architect, build and maintain the databases required for these fundamentals models

  4. Storage build out forecasts: Build and maintain Field's storage buildout forecasts - based on registers of projects in planning, grid connection offers, as well as publically available data

  5. Manages 3rd party revenue providers: Interact with 3rd party revenue forecast providers (Aurora, Baringa, Cornwall, Afry) to compare with our models and use for reliance

  6. Reporting: Present revenue forecasts internally, to the Board, investors and lenders - and generally educate the whole company on revenue scenarios, and implications for our strategy

  7. Strategy input: Be a key input into key investment / divestment decisions, and use our own proprietary fundamentals model to make unique or divergent market decisions e.g. buy/sell third party assets if we spot market mispricing opportunities
