Compensation: £70,000 - £90,000 / year

The role:

The Senior Acquisition Manager will be responsible for identifying, assessing and acquiring “shovel ready” developments and partnering with developers on earlier stage projects to deliver Field’s UK portfolio. You will be active in the industry, reaching out to prospective sellers, commercially evaluating their projects and recommending deals to the senior management team  . The successful candidate requires a very good understanding of the commercial (e.g. forward power curves, use of system charges, capex, opex), technical (e.g. deliverability, project risks) and financial (ROI, IRR) considerations for assessing and acquiring assets.  

Below is an overview of the main responsibilities. However, we will grow rapidly and so will your responsibilities, so this is by no means an exhaustive list. There will always be room to grow and learn.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Build our pipeline of UK battery storage projects

  • Understand and promote Field’s vision in the industry

  • Build relationships with developers

  • Use publicly available resources and industry intelligence to maintain an extensive database of projects in development (and operation)

  1. Financially and operationally evaluate new sites

    • Assess whether a project achieves our target Internal Rate of Return using Field’s in-house site assessment Financial Model

    • Understand key drivers for a site's financial attractiveness, including site-specific revenue, operational expenditure and capex considerations. 

    • Work with Field’s procurement and construction teams to accurately forecast project construction costs and timeframes

    • Working with Field’s development team to understand any project risks and non-financial factors in a site’s assessment, including any post-acquisition work

  2. Prepare non-binding offers and issue to Sellers

    • Suggest acquisition strategies for projects at different stages of development

    • Make recommendations for any conditions precedent to an acquisition closing

    • Communicate offers well and work to seek agreement within limits of negotiation

  3. Once an offer has been accepted, liaise with Sellers to manage the project through to acquisition.

  4. Work with Field’s Financial Planning and Analysis team to refine and update our Site Assessment Financial Model to ensure our bids remain competitive

  5. Stay close to the market and understand commercial and regulatory changes that may be coming.  

    • Understand the financial impact on projects

    • Run scenarios in models to assess the risk to Field

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • 5+ years previous experience in a relevant role from either an analysis or development perspective

  • Experienced in project appraisal using financial models (excel/google sheets), including an understanding of key metrics such as IRR/ROI

  • Role based in Field’s office in London Spitalfields, however some travel to project sites and stakeholder meetings will be required 

  • BESS experience is preferred, but not required
