We are in a nature and climate emergency. This decade will be vital for the future of our planet and RSPB’s contribution has never been needed more. Led by science, our work ranges from the transformation of land and sea, through to everyday actions that help protect and restore natural environments and save species. We inspire and empower millions of people; forging partnerships to work together to build a world where nature thrives.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds works for the conservation of birds and nature, both locally in the UK and around the world. We exist to advance the conservation of birds, other wildlife, and the natural world, by protecting and restoring habitats and landscapes, saving species, helping end the nature and climate emergency and inspiring others to do the same. Our vision is for a shared world where wildlife, wild places and all people thrive. We believe that we’re leading the way for conservation practice across the world, and we need an outstanding Head of Business Engagement to help us attract and secure the support of forward-thinking commercial partners who want to join us in addressing the nature and climate crisis.

We want to build on our existing successful partnerships in sectors such as food and construction, as well as develop game-changing relationships across a range of new areas. With the principal task being to develop significant and productive strategic partnerships for the RSPB, you’ll draw on the talents of colleagues across the organisation to maximise existing relationships. Most importantly, you’ll increase our access to new and exciting opportunities by an order of magnitude. There’s plenty to do: from our own commercial operations, through our policy and advocacy outreach with companies and on to our direct corporate fundraising, we also have potential to expand our sector advice, specific food and farming initiatives and our exciting and evolving conservation investment practice.

You’ll be an influential, persuasive bridge-builder, able to communicate and shape new possibilities for private sector involvement in our work. Experience of brokering and sustaining commercial partnerships is essential, and you will have a sophisticated understanding of how to make an unarguable case for support to a range of audiences. With a comprehensive understanding of how businesses are engaging on issues of sustainability and climate, you’ll also understand the increasing importance of charity partnerships for companies of all shapes and sizes.

Like nature, our survival depends on diversity. Nature has no borders, and neither do we. We recognise that everyone is individual and different and value what that difference brings to the RSPB. We want to support everyone to unlock their potential and better reflect the communities in which we work.
