How to get a job at a fast-scaling B Corp

As we approach B Corp month, we heard from members of the team at Too Good To Go with advice on how they landed their roles.

B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy. So it's no surprise the Escape community is always interested to hear about opportunities to join scaling B Corps.

As we approach B Corp month, we heard from members of the team at Too Good To Go with advice on how they landed their roles. As a B Corp and the no.1 organisation in The Escape 100 in 2021, we're sure our community will be interested in hearing more from the team, and the open roles to join the Too Good To Go team in the fight against food waste.

Alex Mason, Key Account Team Lead

I am the Key Account Lead for On the Go food, focused on growing the segment by winning new business as well as nurturing our key partners to ensure we are a key pillar in their sustainability and food waste strategies. I joined the business in January 2021 - after seeing the role advertised on Escape the City - and Too Good To Go were amazing at ensuring my onboarding process was as smooth as can be, despite being totally remote, and that welcome was nothing but warm.

Joining a B-corp certified business was something I'd been looking to do for a while, after moving out of a particularly high impact industry (fashion) in 2018. I wanted to further my positive environmental, social and economic contribution at work, and Too Good To Go definitely delivers on that front! We truly live by our values, putting people and the planet first in everything we do.

My advice to others thinking about making a similar change is to go for it; truly caring about what you do at work is the best feeling, and it's incredible to be surrounded by such like-minded, talented people everyday.

Claire%20Brunel.jpgClaire Brunel, B2B Marketing Manager

I’m Claire Brunel, B2B Marketing Manager at Too Good To Go.

As a B2B Marketing Manager, my job involves reaching new businesses and generating leads through a variety of marketing channels including paid media, social media and PPC. The role involves collaborating with the sales team on a daily basis to understand the sales cycle and the key messages to push to stores to make them want to sign up!

I have now been with the business for 8 months and I already feel at home with my marketing family. There’s such a wide range of skills in my team that all complement each other nicely. It’s an exciting and creative group, and they’ve definitely made me feel very welcome.

Working for a B-Corp Company is a new experience for me but thus far it has been incredibly gratifying. To wake up in the morning and know that you’re working towards helping the planet is extremely rewarding and it definitely lends a sense of pride and purpose every day.

In terms of advice for job seekers looking to work for a B-Corp or purpose-led company, I think the most important thing is to show your passion and commitment in your interviews and be ready with examples of how you embody the values of the company you’re applying to.

In addition, an entrepreneurial mindset is key. Working in a start-up environment requires proactivity and a willingness to take on new challenges!

Serena Soobadoo, Sales Specialist

I work as part of the Indie sales team, which essentially means I am partly responsible for on-boarding independently run food businesses. I have only been at TGTG since the start of the year but have already experienced and learnt SO much despite a virtual training process. My new team was great in making sure I felt welcomed with help and support being offered from every single person.

Working in sales roles in other companies can often becoming quite tiresome and demotivating, however knowing you are working to really make an impact on the world and genuinely help food businesses to recoup sunk costs and become more sustainable makes working at TGTG so much more fulfilling and really drives you to keep going through tough times. For anyone else looking to work for a B Corp/mission-led organisation, I would say DO IT! It is the most rewarding role and you will enjoy every day working here. There is so much more going on within the company outside of your role that you can get involved with to increase your impact even further.

Florian Rose, Global Talent Acquisition

Hi, I’m Florian and I work in the Global Talent Acquisition Team at Too Good To Go. My team and I work collaboratively on roles across all countries that Too Good To Go is active in, supporting local hiring, especially with leadership positions, and recruiting the launch teams for our new markets.

Working for a mission-driven B Corp doesn’t just come with the benefit of feeling good about what you do and feeling the impact you have, but also comes with passionate and motivated colleagues who give me energy every day.
