How to use the new features to plan your Escape

Escape The City’s brand new website will revolutionise finding purposeful work: through comprehensive AI job matching, a growing database of unique roles exclusive to Escape, a live volunteer feed and enhanced search functionality and filters.

In 2010 when Escape began we were a niche idea and we stood alone. However, over the years our community has grown to over 700,000 job seekers who also believe in our founding mission, that life is too short to do work that doesn’t matter. And unsurprisingly, over 14 years, the world of work has changed a lot…

  • The way we look for work
  • What we look for in a role or organisation
  • The rise in progressive, purpose-driven organisations
  • The shift of power to the candidate
  • And the lasting effects of the Covid period

To name but a few factors, it’s safe to say that the job landscape has changed dramatically.

And with change, comes the promise of new opportunity. Which is why we’ve been working hard in the background to adapt and grow - to ensure Escape The City best serves job seekers and organisations alike in this new world of work. Escape The City’s brand new website is designed to revolutionise finding purposeful work: through comprehensive AI job matching, a growing database of unique roles exclusive to Escape, a live volunteer feed and enhanced search functionality and filters.

And we thought, why not take you through the new features, to make building more meaningful careers and ultimately, a more meaningful world - even easier!

So here goes.

AI Job Matching and email alerts

Staying engaged in an active job search is tricky, so we’ve got the computers to do it for you.

We will extensively tag each job that pops up on our site with over 60 data points and match them with your preferences. So if your job search becomes a little passive and your dream job appears, we’ll notify you, you won’t miss a thing.

How to make it work for you:

  • Set your job search preferences. Where you are at in your search, career, what causes you care about, salary, what industries you are interested in. If you can think of it, we’ll tailor to it. You will likely have filled in these preferences when signing up to Escape, but if you would like to update your preferences you can do so through your profile here.
  • These preferences will be used to inform your matches on your personal homepage, along with what email job alerts you receive.
  • If you’d like to update your job alert email preferences, you can do so here, whilst also setting up any new alerts when browsing through the job board.

Enhanced search filters

We’re telling you exactly how flexible a company is. From 20% hybrid all the way to 100% remote. We’ve reimagined how you search for causes, and we’re going niche. Interested in clean water, food poverty, gender equality? Whatever it is, you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for with us.

You can now also search by progressive ways of working. Joining companies that align with your work style and flexibility is crucial. We expect you all to be hammering the ‘4-day-work-week’ filter, but you’ll also find unlimited holiday filters, async hours, and much more.

How to make it work for you:

  • By exploring the new filters on the job board page you’ll see you can either really narrow down your search, or keep it broad if you're not quite sure on the direction you want to take.
  • Take some time to play around with the filters, set alerts for organisations championing a cause you care about or ways of working that are important to you.

Curated purpose-driven roles, exclusive to Escape

Now hosting jobs that no other job board has the ability to reach. By implementing a new job board technology and partnering with some truly amazing companies, 60% of the roles on Escape are exclusive. Escape is the home of the most unique roles at the most purpose-driven companies.

  • Or you may prefer to browse organisations, and set alerts for when they are hiring, which you can do so here.
