The Escape 100: The 5 top planet-saving organisations (and they’re hiring, too!)

Are you keen to do your bit for the planet? Then check out these 5 inspiring teams, many of whom are also remote and/or flexi-working.

A few weeks ago, NASA announced that this June was the hottest month ever recorded. Unless you’ve been living under a (probably quite a nice cool temperature) rock, you might have noticed the scorching heat wave that has swept across the globe this season. Multiple mind boggling occurrences have since been grabbing the headlines, like Greece having to temporarily shut down tourist access to the Acropolis due to extreme temperatures, and highs of 66.7 Celsius hitting Iran’s southwest coast. If we needed a reminder of the effects of climate change on our planet - this was certainly it!

But all hope is not lost. Job seekers are now more than ever keen to use the momentum of our working hours to collectively reduce the effects of climate change, and protect the planet. What can be better than spending your days on topics like forest conservation work, recycling and reusing, or protecting the oceans? And there are also plenty of organisations that are also integrating environmental priorities into their core values and operations, even if their primary focus lies elsewhere.

If you’re looking for organisations with a planet-friendly focus, this year's Escape 100 campaign can help. Our annual campaign celebrates the organisations that are doing things differently and leading the way into a sustainable future. Over 13,000+ organisations applied this year and passed through a rigorous evaluation process, based on six key criteria (Impact, Planet, Mission, People, Innovation, and B-Corp). In particular, the ‘Planet’ section dove into elements like the organisation’s alignment with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, their supply chains for producing physical products, company facilities, Environmental Stewardship, travel policies, and total emissions, among other factors. A number of organisations really shone in this ‘Planet’ section, and we’re happy to introduce you to them in this article.

So without further ado, let's meet the top 5 planet-saving organisations that made it into The Escape 100 2023:
