About Your Patient Choice

Your Patient Choice is creating a new NHS technology-enabled healthcare provider for both mental and physical health. We are driven by the vision of making free NHS healthcare accessible and higher quality for patients, and more affordable for the NHS.

We are unique as:

  1. We have built our own innovative patient-centred care pathways. These are delivered by our internal clinical teams using our in-house technology platform.
  2. Our founders (medical doctor Mark Jenkins and healthcare entrepreneur Darshak Shah) have previously built tech-enabled providers in NHS obesity and ophthalmology care (treating over 1 million patients in the last 10 years), and want to bring these lessons to all outpatient specialties.
  3. We are able to move fast as we have raised funds from leading healthcare investors Triple Point and Heal Capital, as well as expert angels who deeply understand the NHS.

Our first service, autism assessments for children and teens, is launching soon, and will be followed by ADHD assessments and treatment for children and teens, and dementia assessments and treatment for adults.

We know 184,000 people are waiting 2-10 years for an NHS autism assessment today, and we need your help to shorten this wait! (https://www.autism.org.uk/what-we-do/news/autism-assessment-waiting-times-6)

The Opportunity

The role is twofold, spanning our care pathways and our technology. You will be responsible for developing, driving and optimising our care pathways to offer the best possible patient experience. You will also work closely with our engineering team to shape our technology and systems that enable our care coordination and clinical staff to deliver care.

Our launch specialty is children and young people’s autism assessments, and we are planning to launch a number of additional mental and physical health services.

We have a clear development framework for all roles with salary bands. With demonstration of success in this role, there is room for progression and career growth within the company, including recruiting a team to help us launch more specialties.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the product lifecycle of our clinical service pathways (from design and implementation through to monitoring, optimisation, and scaling), and develop and iterate our technical product together with our engineering team.
  • Work closely with internal functions and external stakeholders to understand and define service requirements, identify unmet needs, bring a user-centred design approach, and translate these into tangible service and technical solutions using tools such as Jira, Trello, Miro, Figma.
  • Own product frameworks and processes including, but not limited to, actionable roadmaps, agile ways of working, OKRs, product specifications, tickets, user mapping and discoveries.
  • Implement and launch new clinical services, ensuring smooth integration with existing technical systems and workflows.
  • Setup, own, and run complex projects throughout their lifecycle, adhering to project management best practices (e.g. agile, Prince2) depending on the project type.
  • Own the pathway KPIs of patient engagement and experience. Monitor and drive improvements, utilising data insights to create prioritised action plans and make strategic decisions.
  • Conduct risk assessments together with relevant stakeholders (e.g. clinical, engineering) and support incident investigations as needed.
  • Conduct regular market research and competitor analysis to stay abreast of emerging trends and identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • With success and if desired, there is the potential to recruit and manage further product team members.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree with a minimum of 2:1 grade achieved, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in building and launching new or early stage products or clinical pathways within a healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of having owned, and delivered against, business-critical product and/or pathway KPIs and financial targets.
  • Proven experience in collaborating effectively with a broad range of stakeholders (experience working with clinicians, designers, engineers, and patients is a bonus).
  • Strong understanding of user-centred design principles and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate clinical knowledge and engineering needs into actionable product requirements and features.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Extensive experience and advanced practical understanding of product and programme/project management methodologies (Agile, PMP, Prince2 etc).
  • A strong track record of effectively prioritising and delivering a high-impact roadmap considering user needs, data analysis, strategic business objectives and stakeholder requirements.
  • Ability to ask the hard questions and challenge the status quo. Confident in providing constructive questioning to decisions, giving direct feedback and making high-impact decisions.

Don’t meet every requirement? Studies have shown that women and people from ethnic minority groups are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Your Patient Choice we are dedicated to building a diverse and top performing workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align with every qualification, we strongly encourage you to apply. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles!

Benefits:

  • Competitive Salary: £60,000-70,000 depending on experience. We believe in transparency about our salary banding to ensure clear expectations. If this aligns with your requirements, we'd love to hear from you.
  • Share Options: Share options package currently worth £4,400 per year (with potential for more as the company succeeds), reflecting your contribution as an early team member.
  • Comprehensive Benefits Package including 5% employer pension contribution
  • Generous Leave: In addition to 34 days of annual leave (including public holidays), we offer a unique 2-week sabbatical for every 3 years of continuous service.
