REPORTING TO: HEAD OF PROJECTS UNTIL JUN2022 THEN PROGRAMMES DIRECTOR DUE TO MATERNITY LEAVE

HOURS: Full-time or 4 days a week option available

Job summary 

To project manage the ERDF Brighton Research and Innovation Technology Exchange (BRITE) programme, ensuring that the objectives and outputs are fully met in an effective and timely manner. 

Location:

This role can be based in either Hayes or Brighton with an element of hybrid working. 

Responsibilities and Duties

Main Duties:

  • Responsibility for maintaining the end-to-end process required to comply with ERDF funding guidelines and compliance for the BRITE Project.
  • Maintenance of project management systems and processes 
  • Monitoring of ERDF compliant systems across the project
  • Responsibility for submission of ERDF quarterly claims and reporting
  • Lead on ensuring Plus X ERDF Procurement and State Aid compliance  
  • Maintenance of systems for collation of outputs 
  • Monitoring performance against project plans to ensure delivery of outputs within budgets, to agreed timescales 
  • Monitor overall spend to ensure project operates within agreed budget
  • Create accurate status reports to keep the team informed about project progress
  • Oversight of the risk register, ensuring an effective escalation process is in place at all times
  • Overseeing the contractors providing the Summative Assessment of the BRITE project 
  • Managing the project closure process ensuring compliance, comprehensive archiving and satisfactory final reporting
  • Managing the day to day relationship with DLUHC
  • Line management of ERDF Project Administrator

Key Result Areas

  • Timely submission of claims and resolution of queries from the Managing Authority (DLUHC)
  • Accuracy of record keeping and project documents
  • Satisfactory reporting and audits from DLUHC
  • Effective tracking of delivery against timelines and expenditure against budgets to ensure that all requirements are met before project closure. 
  • To flag potential issues early and work with the Governance group to resolve issues

Key Relationships:

Internal:      Programmes Manager, Partnerships Manager, Workshop Technician Manager, Construction Project Manager

External: Contract Manager at Dept. Levelling Up, Homes and Communities (DLUHC), Project Manager, University of Brighton (UoB).

Qualifications and Skills

  • High levels of organisation and accuracy with a keen eye for detail 
  • Ability to deal effectively with large quantities of data using Excel
  • Experience of managing complex and dynamic projects, driving and facilitating outputs capture and expenditure in line with profile
  • Experience of effective stakeholder management 
  • Experience of managing or administrating ERDF projects (desirable)
  • Experience of people management (desirable)

The above full time post is available until 30/06/2023, and is a member of the Brighton Research and Innovation Technology Exchange (BRITE) project team. BRITE is a European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) funded partnership project that commenced in January 2020. BRITE encompasses a capital element, the build and fit out of Plus X Brighton Innovation Hub, an inspiring flexible work space with outstanding facilities; and a revenue element, an innovation programme delivered in collaboration with the University of Brighton.
