About the opportunity
Soil Association Exchange is a fast developing digital platform designed to measure the ecological health of a farm. It will use the best available technology to provide comprehensive and scientifically rigorous data to show the impact of a farming or forestry on the land. Be part of the exciting piloting phase of the on farm metrics and outcomes being tested, with baseline data collected across 130 farms. Working alongside a farming advisor the responsibilities include infield assessment for soil and biodiversity, water testing and animal welfare assessments. All data will be logged electronically on site. Full training will be provided.
About you
We are looking for enthusiastic, adaptable and self-motivated individuals with some practical experience of agriculture and/or farmland environment / habitat conservation who love being out on farms. We would love them to have a good understanding of the principles of agroecological farming systems and experience of soil and biodiversity assessment or on farm audits, but full training will be provided. Key qualities we are looking for include being able to work on your own initiative but also as part of small teams; and be able to prioritise and meet deadlines with excellent time management and organisational skills. Be a confident communicator with an empathy and understanding of farmer and grower situations. You will need to be physically fit, computer literate especially in Excel, use of apps and digital recording platforms and have a full driving license.
