Do you have experience as a Bookkeeper? Do you want to be part of an innovative social enterprise? Are you looking for a (flexible) part time role? If so, this position with Kivu International is an ideal opportunity for you.
About us
Kivu is dedicated to improving the policy responses to social and economic challenges in low and middle-income countries. We believe that change is most effective when it is locally-led. We do not dictate to others how to solve policy problems; instead we support local institutions to develop their own effective solutions. We work with think tanks, interest groups, civil society organisations, the private sector and others to inform and influence policy, or hold governments to account. We also provide support direct to government to strengthen their strategy and policy development. Our work involves countries across Africa, Asia and the Pacific.
About you
This role will suit you if you have a natural ability with numbers, great attention to detail and strong organisational skills. You and the Operations Manager will be the only ops/finance people in our team, so it’s important that you’re self-motivated, reliable and flexible.
This job could suit you if you’re returning to work after a career break, want a part-time role to fit around caring commitments or running your own business. We’re open to a wide range of applicants and can be flexible with the days of the week that you work. You do not need to have worked in international development before.
About the role
The role of Finance Assistant is crucial to the effective running of day to day operations at Kivu. Success in this role means that repeatable financial admin is reliably taken care of, and our Operations Manager can focus on delivering strategic projects across the organisation.
Core areas of responsibility are:
Accounts Receivable: prepare, send and track monthly invoices. Each client has their own set of requirements for invoicing and reporting, so building a solid relationship with them will be key.
Accounts Payable: this will involve processing team expense claims, keeping track of contractor invoices and supporting the Operations Manager with monthly payroll.
Bookkeeping: this includes quarterly VAT returns, making sure our financial transactions are accurately recorded in Xero and support with submitting our annual accounts.
There is also the opportunity for you to review and improve our financial processes. We want you to tell us if something isn’t working – and give your recommendations on how we can make it better.
This position is part-time at 2.5 days per week (we can be flexible with the days of the week that you work). It can be conducted remotely from the UK or based in Kivu’s London offices near Old Street.
The salary would be between £28,000 and £30,000 full-time equivalent (£13,600 - £14,500 for 2.5 days), depending on experience plus benefits. 30 days holiday full-time equivalent (15 for 2.5 days)
The closing date for applications is 09:00 on 9th February 2024
