We are a leading innovator in the field and this role provides the right candidate with an excellent opportunity to be part of an organisation at the cutting edge of impact investing.
Role Overview
Leadership
- Day to day management of the operations team to deliver against agreed objectives and to develop the capabilities of the team.
- A key member of the Ethex Senior Management Team, helping to build the forward-looking operational strategy of Ethex and Energise Africa.
- Participant in the Investment Committee, alongside the COO, as required, with an operations lens to ensure and support the proposed pipeline fits in to our operating model or can be easily accommodated where there is a strong business case.
Achieving Operational Excellence
- Ensuring all processes and procedures are mapped and understood across internal teams. Support or lead process re-engineering, where required, to help to transition to a more efficient operating model.
- Maximising the use of technology to ‘join-up’ the back-office and within that, to manage orders, investor queries and build robust business processes as we scale.
- Responsible for project management and implementation of special projects relevant to the operations of the businesses including supporting the roll-out of new products or services.
Managing Risk and Compliance
- Ensuring we are meeting FCA regulatory requirements as an Appointed Representative of Sharein (our white label investment platform and regulatory principal) and achieving best practice for both organisations. Coordination and completion of our quarterly compliance monitoring process and supporting the COO in the ownership of our own regulatory duty.
- Ensuring the risk management framework is embedded within day-to-day processes as a priority and working alongside the COO with the aim of achieving operational resilience in the current operating model.
- Providing an escalation point for businesses and investors with complex queries or complaints from initial contact to resolution.
- Managing risk mitigation strategies/products and activities in conjunction with our investees.
Key skills and experience
As an ideal candidate, you will have:
- At least 5+ years' experience working in a regulated financial services role, ideally in a business to consumer-focused environment. You will have a good understanding of the UK Regulatory Framework for Financial Services and ideally knowledge of the incoming Consumer Duty and what that means for organisations from 31st July 2023.
- Experience of working in a Fintech with good financial knowledge (including unlisted securities) and the ability to understand the financing needs of our investees including more complex hedged currency products for Energise Africa.
- The ability to work as an effective member of our Senior Management team and as the leader of Operations in our fast-moving environment. An adaptive mindset will help to position the organisation for growth whilst representing your team's needs.
- A passion for optimising organisational development, operational excellence and data driven decision making.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset, engaging with multiple parties from inside and outside the company. Build relationships, influence, manage conflicts and efficiently navigate situations to get things done.
- The ability to organise and prioritise work and meet deadlines. Ability to work under pressure and to strict timelines and manage multiple priorities
- An energetic, positive and constructive approach – you want to solve problems and build good workable solutions with your team every day.
- An interest in sustainable development/impact investing or similar.
- Experience in high growth digital organisations.
