About Lendable

Lendable is on a mission to make consumer finance amazing: faster, cheaper and friendlier.

We’re building one of the world’s leading fintech companies and are off to a strong start:

  • One of the UK’s newest unicorns with a team of >200 people

  • Among the top 10 fastest-growing tech companies in the UK

  • Profitable since 2017

  • Backed by top investors including Balderton Capital and Goldman Sachs

  • Loved by customers with the best reviews in the market (4.9/5 across 10,000s of reviews)

So far, we’ve rebuilt the Big Three consumer finance products from scratch: loans, credit cards and car finance. We get money into our customers’ hands in minutes instead of days.

We’re growing fast, and there’s a lot more to do: we’re going after the two biggest Western markets (UK and US) where trillions worth of these are held by big banks with dated systems and painful processes.

Join us if you want to

  • Work in small teams of exceptional people trusted to take ownership and make decisions quickly

  • Be relentlessly resourceful to solve problems and find smarter solutions than the status quo

  • Build the best technology in-house, using new data sources, machine learning and AI to make machines do the heavy lifting

About the role

We are looking for a Recoveries & Litigation Manager to actively manage our suite of third parties to maximize recoveries through timely and effective asset disposal strategies and assume responsibility for the management of shortfall and unsecured debts resulting from terminated finance agreements.

With the changing macro environment, recoveries will be playing a bigger role and we want to make sure our recoveries strategy is aligned with our customer's needs. Our recoveries function comprises in-house technology and a series of outsourced partners (e.g. recovery agents, remarketing partners and litigation providers) which you will be responsible for managing and optimising. You will also support the business to deliver against strategic goals and position the Collections & Recoveries team to meet future challenges and current objectives.

Lendable and this role offer next-level impact, opportunity, and growth within the world of Fintech.

Your team’s objectives

  • Ensuring that our recoveries processes, procedures and activity is focused on delivering a fair customer outcome in a timely manner

  • Primary responsibility for managing and maintaining effective working relationships with third parties (e.g. outsourced suppliers, repossession agencies etc.) including approval of any settlements outside of mandates

  • Proactively engaging with Collections Operations to provide a first-class experience to our customers in all stages of the Recoveries cycle through the achievement of agreed frontline operational service levels

  • Target defining, setting and management to both internal and external stakeholders to include productivity and cash recovery targets

  • Working with Collections Analytics to understand optimal strategies to increase liquidation rates and to apply treatments to accounts to raise the value of accounts for any future planned debt sale

  • Regularly reviewing the quality and compliance of the function (including third parties)

  • Identify and assess risks within recoveries and agree on action plans to remedy or mitigate risk

  • Development of the recoveries strategy including business plans, objectives, SLAs, associated KPIs, policies, processes, and procedures

  • Represent Lendable at specific trade body/industry gatherings on a regular basis to ensure the business continues to have an active voice as appropriate across the industry

What do you need to succeed in this role?

  • Someone with experience in an FCA-regulated consumer finance environment or a results-driven recoveries operation in a similarly regulated area

  • You have experience in developing and implementing new processes, technologies and team structures

  • You have a high level of third-party management skills, with a proven track record of managing and negotiating outsourced recoveries relationships

  • You have a passion for supporting customers and are emotionally resilient

  • You have experience in undertaking analysis of management information and the ability to analyse information and implement improvement strategies as a part of that analysis

  • You are up to date with the FCA regulations and have experience reporting to senior management

  • You have a good understanding and ability to analyse, forecast, and team metrics

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills combined with the ability to network and build effective internal and external relationships at all levels

  • Proven track record of taking individual ownership and responsibilities as well as being a great team-player

The interview process

We’re not a corporate so we try our best to get things moving as quickly as possible. For this role we’d expect:

  • An introduction video call with one of the team

  • Onsite Interview
    • Meet the team you’ll work with daily

    • Meet the exec team

Life at Lendable (also check out our Glassdoor page)

  • The opportunity to scale up one of the world’s most successful fintech companies

  • Best-in-class compensation including equity

  • You can work from home every Monday and Friday if you wish - on the other days, we all come together IRL to be together, build and exchange ideas.

  • Our in-house chef prepares fresh, healthy lunches in the office every Tuesday-Thursday

  • We care for our Lendies' well-being both physically and mentally so we opt for the highest coverage when it comes to private health insurance

  • We organise an annual trip with the whole company, to celebrate our milestones and reflect on our achievements

  • We're an equal-opportunity employer and are looking to make Lendable the most inclusive and open workspace in London
