Divine Chocolate, the pioneering Fairtrade brand and a founding UK BCorp is looking for a Communications Manager to help bring about social and environmental change through the sales of delicious, premium chocolate. We are part owned by cocoa farmers so every chocolate bar we sell really makes a difference.

We have some VERY exciting plans for the year ahead and you will be central to them. You will work alongside the team to extend the brand’s reach in new and exciting ways whilst promoting Divine’s unique business model and delicious chocolate products. You will own the front face of the brand – ensuring every piece of communication looks, feels and sounds Divine. 

You should be a creative and confident Communications Manager with solid experience in running PR and social media in house. You will be adept at building relationships with journalists, partners and agencies alike, with a strong ability to develop and execute cross brand collaborations that drive reach and awareness. You will lead and contribute to a team who are passionate about premium chocolate and delivering real benefits to cocoa farmers in Africa.

We are a small, committed and very friendly team who collaborate with a great range of partners that share our ethical values. We are proud to run most of our marketing and PR in-house to develop grassroots campaigns, as well as working with trusted agency partners on larger scale campaigns. We work very closely with the U.S. team, based in Washington D.C and our Swedish team based in Gothenburg to ensure major campaigns and assets are developed with all markets in mind.

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Maximising coverage for Divine products in consumer and trade UK press, including planning, writing and distributing all product and campaign news releases, as well as responding to journalist requests & sampling new products.
  • Cultivating strong journalist/influencer relationships & creating brand/celebrity partnerships.
  • Managing all Divine UK social media across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn & YouTube, including overseeing the creation, implementation and optimisation of all content.
  • Planning and leading digital marketing campaigns around key chocolate celebrations e.g. Christmas, Easter, Mother’s/Father’s Day.
  • Using digital insight tools to track, evaluate and optimise reach and engagement of Divine’s social media content, including the effective management and optimisation of paid media spend.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Divine Social Media Strategy and Toolkit in line with Divine’s brand positioning.
  • Manage all of Divine Newsletter communications, taking responsibility for the newsletter strategy, design and creation, with the aim to encourage engagement and sales from the webshop, as well as finding ways to grow the subscriber base.
  • Leading on all of Divine’s written content, developing blog posts and stories that bring to life the Divine mission and impact.
  • Source and manage all brand collaborations and partnerships to extend brand reach.

Essential Skills

- 5+ years’ of digital marketing experience

- Great working knowledge of all social media platforms

- Strong media relations skills

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Mailchimp experience desirable

- Previous experience in similar roles, ideally at an FMCG company or a premium brand

- Creative, detail oriented and organised

- Passion for social justice and driving positive change
