Purpose of the Role
To provide vital administrative support to the Rights Director and the Head of Rights, William 4th, working across Non-Fiction, Custom Publishing, Williams Collins, 4th Estate divisions as well as the Tolkien list. This role is fast-paced and varied, requiring accuracy and attention to detail. You will be contributing to a key commercial division of HarperCollins and working across international markets.
Key Accountabilities
Supporting the Rights Director and the Head of Rights as needed across all their areas of responsibility
Assisting the Rights Director and a close-knit team of editors in building the Custom Publishing list and delivering the books
Supporting the Tolkien rights team, ensuring seamless liaison with the Tolkien Estate and the Tolkien editorial team
Full US co-edition fulfilment for the Rights Director including contract drafting, file preparation, production liaison and invoicing to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of business
Drafting and sending out contracts
Updating the rights database and liaising with Accounts to ensure monies are allocated in a timely manner
Liaising with editorial teams on a regular basis for updates and sales material
Submitting titles and sending marketing and publicity updates to HarperCollins’ Global Publishing team, scouts as well as international co-agents and third-party publishers as needed
Assisting the team in the preparation for book fairs and sales trips, including diary management, creating catalogues, and collating sales material
Dealing with general rights queries
Manage our online content, in collaboration with the department’s other Assistants (training will be provided)
Market research as needed
Skills and Experience Required:
Some knowledge or experience of administration
Good knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint
Keen interest in publishing rights
Excellent time management and organisation skills
Able to support and work within a team
Excellent attention to detail
