As a volunteer in the Landscape & Horticulture department at Wakehurst, you will have the opportunity to assist the nursery team in capturing and digitalizing plant propagation protocols and associated botanical records of the living collection.
The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in horticulture, specifically plant identification, and possess good IT skills. Attention to detail, accurate record-keeping, and the ability to work independently or within small teams are required.
Volunteers receive a full induction, basic training, and ongoing support. Travel expenses are reimbursed up to a set value. You will have the chance to learn about Wakehurst's amazing collections and the science behind them.

The role: As a volunteer at Wakehurst, you will be part of the Landscape & Horticulture Department, which includes Gardens, Nursery, Arboretum & Conservation, and Logistics units. Your main task will be to assist the nursery team in capturing and digitalizing plant propagation protocols and associated botanical records of the living collection at Wakehurst. This involves computer and paper-based activities under the supervision of the nursery manager.

Job requirements: You should have a keen interest in horticulture, specifically plant identification, and possess good IT skills. An eye for detail and the ability to record information accurately and confidently are essential. You should feel comfortable working independently or as part of a small team and be enthusiastic about the work of Kew/Wakehurst.
