The Insight Manager will play a leading role in the development and delivery of consumer insight at HarperCollins UK. This role will be responsible for successfully and independently delivering quantitative research projects. This Insight Manager will take full responsibility for the management of the HCUK proprietary reader panel, from designing overall strategy to tactical execution of the research and communications programme, striving to innovate with new capabilities and maximise the value of this resource.
With direction from the Head of Insight, Senior Insight Manager (Trends) the Insight Manager will plan a pivotal part in all largescale strategic pieces of insight, managing agencies and external partners.
The Insight Manager will independently and actively seek out opportunities across the business to leverage Insight to aid better decision making, from author acquisition & care, to content development, creative testing and campaign optimization. They will confidently deliver ad-hoc and quick turnaround research projects, working alongside the Senior Insight Manager and wider global insight team where relevant. They will pro-actively use multiple data sources to answer business questions efficiently, constantly seeking to enhance insight outputs.
This role will be responsible for managing the day to day relationships with external market research agencies, particularly Toluna & Nielsen, ensuring HarperCollins implements best in class research processes and maximizes the benefits of the relationships with these partners.
Developing relationships with internal stakeholders will be an important aspect of this role.
Responsibilities
With direction from Head of Insight, the Insight Manager should feel confident managing large-scale, multi-method consumer insight projects end-to-end, from initial briefing, set up and design, to project execution (including moderation), analysis and presenting the results
Independently respond to ad-hoc and quick turnaround research queries, thoroughly answering stakeholders’ questions by utilizing the most appropriate data source/method, with a particular focus on survey data
Ongoing management of a very engaged research panel, including regular survey distribution and content
Help lead the UK relationships with our research agency partners Toluna, Nielsen, Kids Insights and implement best in class panel management practice
Partner with the global insights team, seeking opportunities to build on the relationship and ensuring the UK Insight team remains connected to, and benefits from, global insight initiatives
Confidently present high-quality, story-led insight reports to senior stakeholders
Work in partnership with our experienced Senior Insights Managaer (Trends), drawing on qualitative and storytelling expertise to enhance studies and outputs, and develop data/analytical skills through peer-to-peer mentoring
Required Skills and Attributes
Extensive experience at a research agency in a quantative role, or in a specialist client-side research function (publishing, media or creative industry experience an advantage)
Demonstrable expertise in creating engaging questionnaires that answer research objectives whilst ensuring enjoyable respondent experience
Proven ability to build relationships with stakeholders virtually and in-person.
Survey programming a bonus
Observant and expert storytelling skills
Analytical and data literate
Expert communication skills, comfortable managing relationships with and leading presentations to stakeholders of all levels
Experience working as part of a global team desirable
Experience in consumer panel management an advantage
Outstanding attention to detail and time management skills
The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at one time
Enthusiastic and passionate about books
Advanced PowerPoint & Excel skills, confidence in utilising various cross-tabbing/research software. Experience of Microsoft Power BI and advantage
