Role Summary

The role: As a founding Security Engineer at Apollo Research, you will be instrumental in building our operational security from the ground up. This position is part of the Operations team and reports directly to the COO. You will work closely with our CISO on certification and compliance, and with our engineering team on infrastructure and secure software architecture. Your responsibilities will include deploying and managing security tooling, establishing IT and disaster recovery processes, and defining security policies. You will also champion Apollo's security culture through training and support, balancing security needs with the productivity of researchers.

Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in IT security or related fields, with hands-on experience in MDM tools like Kandji or Jamf, and familiarity with Google Workspace administration. Experience with cloud security, code security review, and compliance frameworks like ISO 27001 and SOC 2 are also desirable. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be the face of security for our employees.

Benefits: This role offers a competitive salary range of £70,000 to £105,000, equity, and competitive benefits including flexible work hours, unlimited vacation and sick leave, and a professional development budget of $1,000 USD annually. Meals are provided on workdays, and paid work trips are also part of the package.
