Role Summary
- Provide leadership for the People Strategy and execute leadership across the Samaritans' community.
- Guarantee a culture in line with our principles involving trust, collaboration, inclusivity, and high performance.
- Oversee all aspects of the people experience including recruitment, engagement, development, wellbeing, pay, reward, equity, diversity, inclusion, and retention.
- Use strategic oversight to enable both volunteers and the paid workforce to deliver impactful services.

The Role: As the Executive Director of People and Culture, you will be a key member of our Executive Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CEO. Your role will involve leading our People Strategy and providing executive leadership across the Samaritans community. You will ensure our culture embodies our values of trust, collaboration, inclusion, and high performance. This position covers all aspects of the people experience, including recruitment, engagement, development, wellbeing, pay, reward, equity, diversity, inclusion, and retention. Your strategic oversight will enable both our volunteers and paid workforce to deliver impactful, life-saving services.
Job Requirements: We are seeking a compassionate, values-driven leader with a proven track record in leading people strategy, cultural transformation, and organizational change. You should have experience in developing high-performing teams within complex organizations and be skilled in driving measurable culture change. A strategic mindset and evidence-based decision-making skills aligned with our organizational goals are crucial. Additionally, you should have a passion for equity, diversity, inclusion, and embedding lived experience in culture and decision-making.
Benefits: This full-time role offers a salary of £110,000 per annum, with additional benefits. We support flexible working hours and offer a hybrid working model, requiring presence in our Ewell office occasionally and allowing for remote work. We value in-person collaboration and also provide options to work out of our London office as needed. Regular evening and weekend work is required for members of our Executive Leadership Team, with time off in lieu provided.
