The Purpose:       

To provide robust, efficient and professional support to the Women’s First Team which ensures first class service and a high level of confidentiality.

The Role:

You will act as a point of contact for the Women’s First Team squad and be able to act promptly and follow best practice in the event of any emergencies. A key part of the role is to assist in the welcoming and support of new arrival players and families (and Senior Football Management) including to: 

  • Develop professional relationships with players, parents, and representatives
  • Co-ordinate the relocation of players i.e., transfer of personal belongings, searching for suitable accommodation and transport as required
  • Help players settle into the club quickly i.e., supporting visa applications, arranging connectivity, opening bank accounts, arranging NI numbers, translation, scheduling English language lessons, organising a vehicle lease/purchase, valid driving license and insurance 
  • Proactively respond to and seek out opportunities for players to prepare themselves for life alongside and after football. Appropriate education and personal development opportunities should be sought
  • Coordinate travel requests during international weeks 
  • Work closely with the Women’s 1st Team Operations Manager i.e., with player schedules, onboarding 
  • Assist the WU21 team i.e., when players need assistance with education/housing
  • Assist the player’s understanding of and integration into the UK – For example, helping with a basic understanding of UK laws relating to driving, parking fines etc.  
  • Collaborate with the wider women’s department and club staff to provide support services to players i.e., education, psychology
  • Support players to respond to letters and emails from fans
  • Support the Head of Safeguarding to; ensure continued safeguarding compliance, proactively promoting and raising awareness and assist with responding appropriately to safeguarding incidents, concerns, and allegations
  • Liaise on medical appointments/assessment
  • Explain the key points in the player induction pack and football rule book
  • Assist with the distribution of various official Club related attire, merchandise, and sponsor partnerships
  • This role also includes the following responsibilities:To assist with the maintenance and continued updates of the Women’s First Team database
  • To assist and support the proficient exiting process, when players leave the Club
  • To liaise with other departments within the Club, in particular GPS, Commercial, Travel, Foundation, Media, Stadium Safety & Security, HR, Finance & IT
  • To attend all women’s first team home games, tours and some away games
  • To attend Club events, as and when required
  • Cultivate a network of useful suppliers relevant to requirements

The Person:

  • The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:Proactively consider other high performing environments, and bring recommendations to the multidisciplinary team
  • Strong team player and collaborative worker
  • Trustworthy with integrity; capable of being privy to extremely confidential information without disclosure 
  • Excellent organizational skills and an ability to work with total discretion
  • Experience of working in an operational role within an elite sporting environment (preferably football)
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft office or similar packages. 
  • The ability to make sound decisions in a timely manner and practical approach to problem
  • Familiarity with the local area & appropriate facilities & services
  • Willingness to travel
  • Knowledge of foreign languages, spoken and written (desirable)

  • Understanding of Football legislation/rules & regulations is an advantage
  • Professional appearance 
  • Calm and composed under pressure 
  • A commitment to driving forward continuous improvement in their working environment
  • Excellent personal qualities such as communication skills, the ability to work in a team environment, self-motivation, enthusiasm, and ability to work under pressure. 
  • The successful candidate should exhibit pride in performance and possess high standards in the provision of service to Manchester United’s internal and external customers
  • A willingness to work flexible hours in accordance with the demands of the role
  • Full driving license
