The DP World Tour is the main men’s professional golf Tour of the European Tour group, with a global schedule featuring a minimum of 43 tournaments in 21 different countries across the 2022 season.

Formerly known as the European Tour, which was established in 1972, the 2022 DP World Tour schedule includes five Rolex Series events, along with four Major Championships, two World Golf Championship events and three tournaments co-sanctioned with the PGA TOUR, as well as tournaments staged around the world with a minimum prize of $2million for all events solely sanctioned by the DP World Tour. The season concludes with the final Rolex Series event, the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, where the winner of the Tour’s season-long competition, the DP World Tour Rankings, will be crowned.

The European Tour group

The European Tour group is one of the world’s pre-eminent golf organisations. We are responsible for running the world-famous DP World Tour, Legends Tour, Challenge Tour and the newly created G4D Tour (golf for the disabled). We also organise, alongside the PGA of America, golf’s greatest team contest - the Ryder Cup.

Founded in 1972, players from 37 different countries have won tournaments on the DP World Tour, and our live broadcast reaches more than 490 million homes in more than 150 countries every week. We are a members-based organisation steeped in history and tradition who work to give our members - professional golfers - the opportunity to play golf all over the world.

Our HQ is based at the iconic Wentworth Club in Surrey, UK, in a newly refurbished office with state-of-the-art facilities and technology.

Main Purpose of the Role

An exciting opportunity within the consumer marketing team to lead the social channel output across some of Golf’s most exciting events. Reporting to the Senior Brand & Marketing Manager, but closely aligned to the content team – the Event Social Media Manager will plan, create and deliver an entertaining, engaging and informative social media laydown across a range of DP World Tour event social media platforms in the UK, Ireland and Middle East. They will be responsible for driving the growth and reach of multiple event social channels, supporting wider event specific audience growth objectives, which in turn support key consumer commercial and brand goals.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Plan and execute year-round content for various key DP World Tour event social channels (currently: BMW PGA, Horizon Irish Open, Betfred British Masters, Genesis Scottish Open, DP World Tour Championship and Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship), with a focus on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (and TikTok for Middle East events).
  • Collaborate with key teams (marketing, brand, content, partnerships, player relations, operations) to ensure ‘joined up’ plans across key event milestones are maximized on event channels.
  • Work with graphic design and video production teams to produce engaging content in line with these plans, including onsite content capture.
  • Collaborate with the DP World Tour content team to align event channel output with DP World Tour and Ryder Cup channels.
  • Work with insight and consumer teams to ensure social plans are aligned to key target audiences and supporting wider business objectives
  • Work with local tournament agencies to manage coverage, alongside identifying key event specific content pillars to story tell, excite, educate and inform fans about the event on and off the course.
  • Work alongside paid performance marketing teams to align organic and paid plans to drive channel growth and wider objectives.
  • Community Management across all social media channels.
  • Reporting on and analysing content effectiveness in tandem with the strategy and insights team. Including ownership of test and learn plans alongside key reporting.
  • Influencer activation and management, when required.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate would fulfil the following criteria:

  • Experience of creating & executing social media content across multiple social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of current social media trends, best practice and influencers where appropriate.
  • Ability to edit video content in Premiere Pro or similar video editing software.
  • Basic ability in Photoshop, InDesign and other Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent written English and communication skills with high attention to detail.
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment.

Additional criteria, that would be an advantage is as follows:

  • Knowledgeable about golf and events would be a strong bonus
  • Experience working within a CMS.
  • Photoshop, InDesign and other Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience working onsite at an event.
  • Agency Experience would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of key trends in Middle East and the UK.

  • Insight driven approach to their work.
  • A positive ‘can do’ attitude and a strong work ethic.
  • Highly collaborative approach to working, and ability to manage multiple stakeholders and objectives simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and be able to build relationships quickly.
  • Excellent project management, organisation and communication skills. Strong MS skills, allowing them to articulate their plans in a clear way.
  • The role will include some travel to events as well as irregular, flexible hours and working night shifts depending on the time zones where events requiring coverage are taking place. Therefore, working hours will be tailored accordingly and will involve a combination of working in the office, in the field and at home. This will vary on a week-by-week basis.
