The Sutton Trust is a foundation committed to improving social mobility in the UK. Our work is focused on improving social mobility through education opportunities. We want to level the playing field for young people from low and middle income backgrounds so that they have a fair chance of accessing leading universities, apprenticeships and jobs.

We do this through:

  • Evidence based programmes: Our programmes support 8,000 young people each year, boosting their aspirations and helping them to make informed decisions about their next steps.
  • Research: Our research identifies the root causes of education inequality and promotes effective solutions to combat them.
  • Policy advocacy: Our advocacy work makes sure social mobility stays at the top of the political agenda and is reflected in national policy debates.

Based in the Communications, Research and Policy team, reporting to the Senior Communications and Public Affairs Manager, and working with teams across the Trust, the Marketing and Events Manager will manage the Trust’s brand, marketing collateral and events programme. The post holder will ensure overall adherence across all channels with the Trust’s brand guidelines, coordinate the production of marketing templates and collateral and deliver an engaging events programme targeted to donors, policymakers and education sector audiences in support of the Trust’s aims.

Main duties
  • Oversee and develop the Trust’s brand ensuring it is consistent across online and offline channels and is up to date and recognisable to the Trust’s audiences.
  • Commission the development of marketing templates and collateral to help reach and engage target audiences.
  • Commission and manage relationships with external design and digital marketing agencies.
  • Work with the Senior Programmes Officer: Marketing and Communications and the Digital Communications Officer to plan, develop and deliver integrated audience-first social media, digital advertising and email marketing campaigns to drive recognition of and engagement with our research and programmes.
  • Work with teams across the Trust to plan and deliver an engaging programme of in-person and online events targeted to donors (individuals, foundations and corporates), policymakers and education sector audiences. Event examples might include:
  • Cross-Trust events e.g., anniversary celebrations, conferences
  • Donor stewardship events e.g. funder roundtables, donor visits
  • Programme-related events
  • Policy summits and roundtables
  • Research and policy webinars
