Open Age is seeking a Product Manager with strong project management experience to support the development and growth of a new online service. The project involves the design and development of a flexible online platform that will be the main delivery mechanism for the service.
The successful candidate will be the Product Manager for the new service and be responsible for working with the CEO of Open Age, the Design Researchers, Technical Product Manager and Developers to ensure the new platform meets the needs of potential customers, commissioners and of older people themselves. The successful candidate will work with initial partners to ensure take up of the end service and develop a pipeline of new customers to grow after launch.
The role would suit a candidate with experience of the full product life-cycle from discovery through to delivery, collaborating with customers, design, and development to full commercialisation.
The role is fixed term till end March 2024. Success in the role will see it become a permanent position funded through revenue generation.
About Open Age:
Open Age is a charity that keeps its older people healthier, happier and having fun for longer. We have a 30-year history of delivering group activities for older people and during lockdown ran an award-winning programme of interactive online activities. We have now secured significant funding to build on our success and build a new Open Age online service. The aim of the project is to engage with older people and commissioners of services for them (e.g., Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Health Services) and use design research approaches to deliver a service blueprint and service design that will be used to develop the new service.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
· To monitor project costs, delivery and milestones against budgets and timeframes, proactively managing any concerns to ensure delivery to plan.
· Responsible for Working with the CEO of Open Age, the Design Researchers, Technical Product Manager and Developers to ensure the project meets the needs of potential customers, commissioners and of older people themselves.
· Fulfilling project governance requirements and reporting on project performance using appropriate project management tools and techniques.
· To work with the team to identify project risks and issues, ensuring effective mitigation and risk strategies are implemented.
· Developing a go-to-market strategy for the product by developing internal market research, competitor analysis, USP proposition and pricing model.
· Developing a robust customer pipeline and growth strategy.
· Be the ‘go to’ person for all queries and questions about the product
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Have great people skills, you understand how to bring people together to unlock their hidden talents.
- Knowledge of multiple project management methodologies, tools and techniques, including Agile.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, build effective working relationships
- Be able to demonstrate at least 3 years’ experience in managing and successfully delivering digital projects and products.
- Have experience of the full product life-cycle from discovery through to delivery, collaborating with customers, design, and development to full commercialisation.
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.
- Have a genuine hunger to use your talents to help create a lasting positive impact for older people.
- A passion for problem solving and creative thinking.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise work across multiple concurrent projects.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work on own initiative when appropriate.
- Experience working with external stakeholders and funding partners.
- Experience using Asana. (desirable but not required)
- Experience/knowledge of issues affecting older people. (desirable but not required)

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 depending on experience
Hours: 35hrs per week, until March 2024 (28 hours per week may be considered)
Location: An office base at St Charles Centre for Health and Wellbeing, Exmoor Street, W10 6DZ and from home.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
