At Beam, you get to do work that really matters. We’re solving the world’s toughest social problems and we’re growing fast 🚀

It’s not easy. Nothing worth doing ever is. But we take care of everyone who works here with everything from coaching to personal budgets and pay highly competitively.

You’ll be joining a company that’s having a huge impact on people’s lives with a culture where you can be yourself, have fun and progress rapidly.

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Bid Manager to join Beam’s Government Partnerships team to help expand our work, win more contracts and support more people on their life-changing journeys into high-quality jobs and stable housing.

You’ll be managing the bid process from start to finish - most critically leading on proposed operational design and working closely with Partnerships Leads and Operations Leads to create bespoke, effective solutions for every bid Beam submits.

You’ll be both deep in the weeds and soaring high at 10,000 feet. You’ll spot upcoming opportunities, build relationships with potential partner suppliers and contribute to Beam’s expansion strategy. You’ll also be the last set of eyes on every tender submitted, so your attention to detail must be exceptional.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has experience writing bids and / or with operational design and data analysis who is ready to take on more ownership in the bid lifecycle.

You’ll be

    • A key member of the Government Bids team, owning the design and overseeing the writing of multiple bids at any given time

    • Solutions-oriented, always thinking about what the buyer wants and how Beam can provide a high-quality service that fits their needs

    • A team player, keen to put your head together with colleagues across functions to design winning bids

    • Proactive in improving processes and systems across the Government Bids and Government Sales teams

    • Tackling everything from designing a multi-million pound bid to undertaking a data-driven price analysis exercise

You are

    • Knowledgeable about, and interested in, bids

    • A tried and tested project manager

    • A seasoned networker

    • Obsessive about detail and accuracy

    • Someone who loves to write clear and concise copy

    • Comfortable with numbers, spreadsheets and budgets

    • A systems thinker who enjoys soaking up deep pools of new information

    • Excited about the possibilities of technology transforming the lives of some of society’s most disadvantaged

You’ll need

    • An analytical mind and obsession with perfection

    • Strong and demonstrable writing skills

    • A growth mindset and to be hungry to learn

What great looks like

  • You'll have managed multiple successful bids, helping establish Beam as a key Government provider in at least two verticals (e.g. Ministry of Justice and Home Office)

  • You’ll have developed key partnerships with other providers to help us win work as part of a consortia

  • You’ll have been a key contributor to reaching our team target of securing at least £4m revenue from competitive tenders by the end of 2023

  • You’ll have created and honed systems for the Bid Writing team that maximise quality and efficiency as the team grows
