Role Summary

  • Join the Plant Health and Quarantine team as a Botanical Horticulturist at the Jodrell Glasshouse.
  • Grow high-quality plants for display, conservation and scientific research.
  • Cultivate and maintain collections daily in the Jodrell Glasshouse.

Role Requirements

  • A keen eye for detail and passion for plants.
  • Experience in caring for a range of temperate, tender, and tropical plants, ideally in a botanic garden or a similar environment.
  • Ability to discuss plants and project proposals with Kew scientists and Display House supervisors.
  • A horticultural qualification at least equivalent to NVQ level 2 or equivalent experience.

The role: As a Botanical Horticulturist at RBG Kew, you will be part of the Plant Health and Quarantine team, working in the Jodrell Glasshouse. Your responsibilities include growing high standard plant material for display, conservation purposes, and scientific research. You will be cultivating and maintaining the collections in the Jodrell Glasshouse range on a daily basis.

Job requirements: The ideal candidate should have an eye for detail and a passion for plants. Previous experience caring for a range of temperate, tender, and tropical plants, ideally in a botanic garden or similar environment, is essential. You should be able to discuss plants and project proposals with Kew scientists and with Display House supervisors. A horticultural qualification at least equivalent to NVQ level 2 or equivalent experience is required.
