Introduction to the role
We are looking for a Communications Assistant to support the Communications Director and Head of Communications on all corporate communications matters, with special responsibilities for writing news stories and editing the company intranet, editing the corporate company website and managing the company’s central Twitter account and liaising with other social media teams.
This is a varied role in a small and busy team working at group level across all divisions.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with great attention to detail, good copywriting skills and an ability to work independently.
Core responsibilities
Internal Communications
Draft and issue internal communications
Draft press releases
Intranet
Draft news stories for HarperHome, the HarperCollins intranet
Content creation for all corporate channels
Liaise with contacts across the company to ensure that the intranet reflects key activities and events
Social Media
Manage the @HarperCollinsUK Twitter account
Work with the digital marketing team and divisional publishing teams to ensure we are amplifying all priority titles and events
Corporate Website
Edit the corporate website to ensure the site is up-to-date
Upload press releases onto the corporate website
Monitor the [email removed - click apply for more details] and other internal inboxes
CSR and Environment
Work with the Comms team to implement charity and environmental strategies and campaigns
Research
Collate and maintain information such as prize winners and bestseller lists
Draft briefing documents for Communications Director
Monitor and share key news articles on HarperCollins and publishing related topics
Brief communications team on market research
Skills required
Proven ability to write accurate and highly readable copy
Ability to communicate confidently at all levels
Excellent computer skills: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Experience of WordPress (useful but not a pre-requisite)
Excellent organisation skills
Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
Ability to respect confidentiality at all times
Ability to work proactively and anticipate the greater needs of the team
Excellent attention to detail required
