Our war on bad poos continues!
We’re looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our growing Finance team at Scrumbles. This role will report into the Senior Accountant and play a significant role in driving improved accuracy, timeliness and controls across all our financial reporting and processes.
This role will suit an aspiring Finance professional who has the desire to be an important part of a small yet high-performing Finance team in a fast-paced growth scale-up.
Why work for Scrumbles?
Scrumbles is a fast-growing pet food start-up that is disrupting the market, available online and in store at retailers like Tesco, Sainsburys Pets at Home and Waitrose. Growing triple digits YoY and operating profitably, this is an exciting time to join the team and shape the next few years.
We make natural, ethical cat and dog food filling a gap in the market for a high quality, responsibly sourced pet food that’s accessible. Despite an increased understanding of animal nutrition, cats and dogs have never been as unhealthy and with lots of mixed messages, pet parents are a little confused – we’re here to sort it.
We’re not afraid to stand up and speak the truth and like to do things a little differently. As a dynamic challenger brand making waves in the industry it couldn’t be a more exciting time to join us and help break the mould.
We believe that businesses can (and should) help change the world for the better. You’ll be a part of a unique ‘social business’ helping transform the lives of cats and dogs we serve, the environment and the communities around us.
We’re looking for someone to:
- Own our bookkeeping: process invoices and expenses, verify sales records, perform bank reconciliations, prepare VAT returns and handle internal bookkeeping queries
- Maintain our Accounts Receivable/Payable: own the accounts inbox, process all payments/credits, monitor customer receipts and handle all customer/supplier payment queries
- Help to drive an exceptional purchase-to-pay process, partnering internal teams to ensure that purchase order and expense policies are upheld and recorded correctly
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes
- Assist with the production of management accounts and financial statements
- Support the FD/Senior Accountant on other tasks, such as opportunities for systemisation/automation and any administrative tasks, e.g. completing the paperwork for setting up new companies and bank accounts
We’d love to meet someone who:
- Is enthusiastic, naturally curious and thrives on working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same
- Has a desire to learn and progress their career in Finance through professional qualifications and a personal development plan; some accounting experience and/or an entry level qualification (e.g. AAT) would be beneficial, but not necessary
- Has a great work ethic and can balance professionalism with authenticity to build great working relationships and get things done
- Is able to accurately and diligently process information, solve problems and communicate them effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
- Can manage their own time, delivering work to a high standard within the required deadlines
- Is computer literate with a good understanding of Excel; prior use of accounting software would be beneficial, but not necessary
