What is Reconnect?
Our goal is to recreate social links within our communities. Our first step: create a network of partners who can offer free or paid for services (from clothes, grooming and hygiene to food, water and Wi-Fi) to people experiencing homelessness.
Who are we?
This initiative was launched in London in July 2019 by a team of volunteers from various backgrounds. Reconnect has been inspired by a successful French initiative and is now part of the international movement “The Chime” regrouping similar initiatives in several countries.
We are a group of volunteers with a variety of skills and experience who are all passionate about fighting against social exclusion. We work together in a startup-style environment and encourage contributions and ideas from all our team members.
We currently have 9 partners in our network, mainly based in North London. We are looking for a dynamic co-founder to push the project to its next level with the support of the initiator of the project.
Our goals:
- Make people experiencing homelessness feel included and welcome in society by allowing them to access a variety of free and paid-for good and services
- Contribute to changing the image of homelessness in our society
- Bring residents and local businesses together by allowing them to buy or offer vouchers for different services
- Empower locals and passers-by by giving them a means to actively help a person experiencing homelessness with a specific act of kindness and support
