We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as our Social Investment Principal for Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).

You will be an integral part of our innovative Impact Accelerator team, leading our social investment activities (Venturesome) dedicated to helping social enterprises, charities and community organisations secure the affordable, flexible loans and other social investment they need to sustain and grow their social impact.

In return for joining as our Social Investment Principal you will receive:

As our Social Investment Principal your key responsibilities will include:

  • Refine and deliver social investment strand of the Impact Accelerator strategy in coordination with Head of Impact and Advisory ensuring measurable objectives and defined targets.
  • Lead and mentor team of investment managers and investment executives, providing guidance and training, supported by robust performance management and personal development opportunities in line with strategy.
  • Responsible for driving growth and innovation in CAF’s social investment offering, ensure it remains relevant in an ever-changing world and work closely with business development and funder relations.
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the organisation, accountable for the implementation of robust governance for social investment with particular regard to risk management, financial crime, compliance with charity regulation, data protection and governance of BAU activity in the Social Investment team.
  • Accountable for the management of the investment application process, including provision of advice to applicant charities and social enterprises and developing offers/deals.
  • Responsible for monitoring CAF’s portfolio of social investments providing clear analysis of fund performance, at risk loans and other risks ensuring concerns are escalated to senior management as appropriate.

Skills required of our Social Investment Principal:

  • Strategic vision, thinking and commercially aware
  • Extensive investment/lending experience, preferably social investment
  • Ability to interpret financial information and assess risk
  • Experience managing people and projects
  • Ability to lead teams to meet targets
  • Operational delivery and improvement
  • Understanding of impact measurement and evaluation
  • High level of numeracy, communication and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of financial industry and regulatory requirements including Charity Commission guidance
  • Understanding of corporate governance and risk management
