Glean are looking for a driven Finance Leader who will help support and drive Glean’s growth ambitions, and in doing so enable us to achieve our mission to empower more than a million learners with the confidence and ability to improve learning and grades. 

This role has come at a crucial time as we scale our ‘learning technology’ company. We have ambitious plans for 2023 and beyond, which require strong financial leadership and experience in this critical Head of Finance role.

Growth- This is a unique opportunity to help take Glean to its next stage of growth. As the Finance Leader within the organisation you will have the opportunity to shape your role and how the organisation approaches Finance.

Leadership- You will be a member of the Leadership Team and play a crucial role in not just leading the Finance team, but also providing key leadership support to the whole organisation. You’ll jointly own the delivery of Glean’s strategy and growth objectives with your leadership team colleagues.

You take responsibility for the operational and strategic delivery of the Finance function, whilst helping Glean manage and optimise its financial performance in support of the company’s growth strategy.

  • Lead - Create, develop and lead the Finance Team strategies. Take responsibility for making sure that your teams have a clear sense of purpose, direction and the resources they need to succeed, by getting the right things done. Role model leadership for other managers and colleagues within Glean.
  • Develop - Be passionate about your own and the team’s development, as well as celebrating successes with them. Understand and utilise the Glean Management models (SLII, 5 Dysfunctions, PDCA, Whiteboards, and Daily Stand-Ups) to support the team’s continuous improvement.
  • Set Finance policy - Working alongside the COO & CFO, lead/support on the introduction of Finance-related policies, validating other company policies from a financial, tax and legal perspective.
  • Support and influence the Board & Senior Leadership Team - With independent insight and advice, borne from your own understanding of the business, help the SLT validate and accelerate their plans, to ensure that the long-term Financial Health of Glean is maintained and optimised. Where necessary, attend the relevant meetings to explain your and your teams’ views and work. Help identify and manage key financial performance indicators.
  • Own our financial forecasts – Take responsibility for the (cross-company) budgeting and revenue forecasting processes for the Group, connect them to the planning cycle and ensure that our most significant investments are understood and well monitored.
  • Liquidity & capital management - Ensure that the Group’s working capital requirements are fulfilled. Manage our foreign currency balances, spot transactions, foreign exchanges contracts, and foreign exchange and counterparty risk. 
  • Nurture external relationships – Maintain strong relationships with key contacts across the legal, tax, accounting, banking and advisory services that Finance and Glean consume so that you can trust and rely on them to do their best work for Glean. 
  • Produce the Statutory Accounts - just like it says, produce our annual statutory accounts for the Group.
  • Group Tax Management – take responsibility for managing, planning and optimising the Group’s tax liabilities in the UK and the US. Ensure the UK R&D claim process is robust. Ensure that Glean’s tax footprint is proactively managed, including our transfer pricing and intercompany agreements and giving advice on commercial decisions, whilst ensuring our internal processes and documentation remain compliant.

Person requirements 

If you’re able to demonstrate proven experience working as a Finance Leader within a fast growing organisation, we’d love to hear from you. These are not deal breaker requirements, but some of our considerations are listed below:


  • 5+ post qualified experience (CIMA/ACCA)
  • Experience working in a Tech/SaaS business
  • Experience managing and leading a finance team 
  • Experience/ involvement in fundraising or M/A activities
  • Systems/process change
  • Providing reporting to Board/Executive level

Salary and Benefits 

£80,000 - £95,000 depending on experience

Ways of working

Whilst we love having people in the office, we do support UK remote working, hybrid working and office based employees. We do have expectations for all employees to be in a minimum of once a quarter for company events.
