Are you a storyteller committed to inspiring positive action in your local community? If so, this is an exciting opportunity to use your knowledge and skills to communicate the benefits of climate and health action, and create real change in both Frome and beyond.

About Green & Healthy Frome

Edventure Frome CIC, Frome Medical Practice and Frome Town Council are working in partnership on Green & Healthy Frome, a National Lottery funded programme focusing on the relationship between health and climate and how this can be brought to life in a community setting. Our programme is delivered through projects across active travel, housing, health and community enterprise.

About the role

This job is fully funded through the National Lottery’s Climate Action Fund. This 3-year, grant-funded post within Edventure Frome will lead one of the key elements of our programme - the storytelling, messaging and public engagement for Green & Healthy Frome.

Coming into an established team and programme, you pick up what we have built so far and apply your creativity to improve our reach and messaging. Our communication platforms have been developed and grown over the past two years, across the web, print and social media, alongside community participation and engagement.

You will be working alongside communications staff across the three partner organisations to coordinate consistent content and build an overarching narrative for Green & Healthy Frome. We have created this new role to take our communications to the next level, and are looking for someone with skills, experience and enthusiasm to do so.

Skills, knowledge and experience

  • Telling engaging stories in the community, health or climate sector
  • Creating inspiring content across diversity of platforms including social media, local press, blog and newsletter
  • Applying storytelling to inspire behaviour change
  • Using communications platforms such as Canva, Buffer, Eventbrite and WordPress
  • Managing/ supporting freelance communications staff to deliver toolkit and film projects
  • Collaborating across teams and coordinating cross-partner communications
  • Excellent written & communication skills
  • Organised and able to work swiftly across a broad variety of tasks
  • Understanding of climate justice, equity and inclusive contexts

Although experience in a similar role is desirable, we actively encourage anybody who believes that they have transferable skills to apply. If you don't quite meet all the criteria, but want to use and develop your skills on a sustainable community project, you should apply!

We weren’t successful in our initial recruitment round for this role and have now opened up the possibility of job-sharing. If there are specific elements of the role that speak to your skills and interests, please contact us.

Please note that whilst this role may be carried out on a hybrid basis, due to the regular in-person meetings and events, you will need to be based in / near Frome or willing to relocate.

Benefits

  • Flexible working
  • Option to job-share (tell us and we’d be happy to discuss)
  • 30 days paid leave pro rata (inc. bank holidays)
  • Learning and development opportunities
  • Passionate and supportive team

How to apply

To apply, please send the following:

  • CV
  • Cover letter outlining how your skills and experience are relevant to the role
  • 3 examples of your communications work (e.g. pngs/ pdfs of social media posts, newsletters or articles)

Please apply by Monday 22nd May 6pm. We are reviewing applications and scheduling interviews on a rolling basis so early applications are strongly encouraged.
