⭐About the role:

We are excited to announce a unique and fantastic opportunity to join Houst as our new People Operations Associate. In this role, you will report directly to the Head of People and Culture (based in our London HQ) and become the first People and Culture hire within South Africa, now our second-largest employee region after the UK. As a data-driven HR professional, you will lead People Operations globally and support the Head of People and Culture with Employee Relations and Performance Management cases in South Africa. With our current focus on growth, this role offers significant potential for a driven individual to develop with the company as we grow!

Responsibilities:

Regional Lead for South Africa Events, Initiatives & Performance Management:

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute employee events, team-building activities, and company-wide initiatives in the South Africa region.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for performance management issues in South Africa, collaborating with the Head of People and Culture to ensure fair and consistent processes that adhere to local labor laws.

HR Processes:

  • Seamlessly coordinate and execute onboarding processes for new hires, focusing on maintaining engagement, induction scheduling and facilitating smooth integration into the company.
  • Efficiently assist with offboarding processes, including leave calculations and finalising necessary paperwork.

HR Data & Metrics:

  • Design and maintain HR dashboards and visualisations to track key performance indicators (KPIs), empowering data-driven decision-making.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to optimise HR data and metrics management.

HR Administration:

  • Accurately manage and maintain employee records, HR documents, contracts, and HRIS in compliance with data privacy regulations.
  • Ensure easy access and retrieval of employee records by organising and maintaining digital files.
  • Support organisational moves, including role changes, promotions, and transfers.
  • Administer annual leave, sick days, and track attendance effectively.

HR Initiatives & Support:

  • Foster a positive and efficient work environment by supporting the implementation of HR initiatives and programs across the organisation.

Events & Training Schedules Administration:

  • Plan and manage event and training schedules, ensuring efficient organisation and clear communication to employees.
  • Coordinate logistics for events and training sessions, including scheduling, materials preparation, and participant registration.

Talent Acquisition & Recruitment:

  • Assist the Talent Acquisition Partner with recruitment processes, including posting job openings, screening resumes, interviewing candidates, scheduling interviews, and coordinating with hiring managers.
  • Support the development and implementation of recruitment strategies to attract top talent
  • Help maintain a strong employer brand, promoting the company as an employer of choice both internally and externally.

Compliance with Country-specific Labor Regulations:

  • Uphold HR procedures that comply with country-specific labor regulations across all regions, keeping the organization up-to-date with changes in labor laws.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of People and Culture to ensure policies and procedures align with applicable labor regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in Human Resources
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • A natural problem solver who develops innovative solutions
  • A logical thinker with an analytical mindset
  • Self motivation, resilience and the ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with HRIS and ATS systems
  • Experience working in a remote and global environment
  • Knowledge of South Africa's employment laws and regulations
  • Previous experience in an international start up or scale up would be an advantage
  • Language skills in French, Spanish or Portuguese would be a plus.
