Role Summary

Role Requirements

BSOP-Tirzepatide is a non-consultant-led Tier 3 Specialist Weight Management Service. The service prescribes Tirzepatide to patients under the NICE Technology Appraisal TA1026 guidelines. Behavioural wrap around support is delivered through separate providers in these instances. The service also includes consultant supported Tier 3 Specialist Weight Management including under the NHS Right to Choose approach. Prescribers may work across all pathways depending on service demand and clinical complexity. Our MDT includes, but is not limited to, dieticians, nutritionists, psychologists, doctors, and other prescribers, working together to provide holistic, evidence-based care.
The role: As a Registered Practitioner with specialist knowledge in obesity medications and with an independent prescribing qualification, you will conduct consultations, assess patient histories, prescribe medications from our limited formulary, and provide ongoing support to ensure safe and effective treatment. You will work closely with the Clinical Lead and play a key role in reviewing patient progress, addressing clinical concerns, and ensuring high-quality care. Your responsibilities will include conducting remote consultations via asynchronous messaging, video, and telephone, reviewing patient medical histories, prescribing weight loss medications in line with service treatment plans, and providing advice and support to help patients manage their medication safely.
Job requirements: Essential qualifications include being registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), GPhC or GMC, having an Independent Prescribing Qualification, and a minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Independent Prescriber within the NHS. Desirable qualifications include additional qualifications in obesity care, such as SCOPE certification.
