About you
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Director of Ecommerce to own and optimise the key commercial metrics of our website. Reporting to the CMO, they will be accountable for implementing the ecommerce strategy and achieving commercial targets, prioritising conversion rate improvement to support the growth of new customer acquisition. Responsible for the implementation of new product launches as well as optimising existing product and category pages on the site, this person will take insight-led action to make decisions and continuously improve our site to make it more effective.
The Role
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Business Growth
- Own our website as a channel to optimise and maximise conversion and overall sales with priority being given to new customer acquisition
- Grow site revenue in both the UK and in key markets around the world
- Develop and implement a strong CRO and A/B testing strategy
- Understand both our brand positioning and operational side of the business (e.g product margins, costs of shipping, our brand position on discounting, etc.) to provide realistic ecommerce recommendations
- Performance / Quality Management
- Find and prioritise solutions to improve on-site conversion, from new currencies to payment methods to checkout optimisations and more
- Partner with Digital Product to deliver prioritised website solutions
- Working with a partner agency, develop and implement our SEO strategy
- Collaborate with our Performance Marketing and Lifecycle Marketing teams to optimise the full journey (e.g off-site content to conversion, retention and advocacy)
- Partner with the BI to drive a data and insights strategy and a plan for continuous reporting and analysis, (e.g. recommendations by product, category and market for continuous improvement)
- Optimise existing systems and processes to ensure we maximise each opportunity to improve conversion
- Content / Experience Management
- Own the implementation of site content as well as site merchandising, cross-selling, search and filtering to optimise site experience and performance
- Evolve our UX strategy and mange the UX/UI team to improve conversion by understanding our our mobile-first user journey and behaviours of our core audience demographic
- Maximise joy and our unique brand feeling across the site without compromising UX or conversion, while always maintaining our position as a premium beauty brand
- Delivery Management
- Partner with our ecommerce-focused Digital Product team to prioritise, roadmap and deliver solutions
- Closely collaborate with the Tech teams by having the ability to speak their technical language and understanding our tools and processes to seek out ways to improve and innovate
- Closely collaborate with our creative teams (Design, Video Production and Copy) to brief and implement the best and most relevant content on the site
- Build and manage a small team and agencies, implementing individual objectives and key results, identifying areas of development and ensuring the team is working efficiently
Requirements
The key skills and experience required for this role are:
- 8+ years experience dedicated to ecommerce in high-growth, commercially-driven digital-first businesses
- Strong people management and personal development of existing staff
- A proven track record of building and implementing successful ecommerce strategies and managing backlogs
- A proven track record of working in Agile environments, partnering with product managers and design teams
- Strong CRO experience interpreting test results, drawing conclusions
- Strong customer journey and UX experience, including experience partnering with performance marketing teams to optimise the full journey
- Strong site merchandising experience
- Experience working alongside product owners / managers and influencing tech teams, including understanding site infrastructure with experience using platforms such as Commercetools
- Very strong analytical skills with detailed knowledge of Google Analytics as well as other data visualisation tools such as Looker
- Strong experience working with creative teams and content, including the extensive use of CMS tools such as Contentful
- Experience working with global websites and multiple currencies and locales
- Understanding of fulfillment and logistics
- Experience in fast-paced environments with the ability to work to tight deadlines across multiple projects
- A highly motivated self-starter with a proactive and scrappy approach who loves to get their hands dirty
- Strong management experience with the ability to nurture and develop the skills of an existing team, as well as recruiting new hires and partnering with agencies as required
- Flawless attention to detail
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
