About this team

The People and Culture (P&C) team in EMEA provide business partnering, advice and guidance as well as HR operational support to 9 countries for both retail and regional head office teams to over 700 employees. Our purpose is to empower people managers to own their people initiatives, to elevate the employee experience, and to build on the foundations to support scaling. The P&C team is split into three areas: business partnering for Retail, business partnering for non-Retail (e.g. head office and call centre), and a shared operations team who provide first line support to the business. The team is predominantly based in London and operates hybrid working.

A day in the life: what you’ll be doing:

This is a Senior Manager role managing a team of 3 direct reports of HR Business Partners that cover all retail in EMEA (9 countries in 2022). The role also dotted line manages the ER Manager and 2 Asset Protection Specialists. The role works closely with the Business Partnering team for non-Retail as well as the Manager of the P&C Operations team.

  • Create and deliver the retail people plan, identifying initiatives that will activate, engage, and retain our talent and delivering through others.
  • P&C business partner to Senior Director, Retail & Operations EMEA and leadership team.
  • People leader – develop, inspire, and lead a team.
  • Oversee the delivery of core cyclical activities such as employee opinion survey and performance and reward cycle.
  • Integrate the newly created ER Manager role into the EMEA P&C team, in alignment with both global scope and priorities as well as local team needs.
  • Oversee Asset Protection in region with a view on upholding health & safety across Europe Retail as a priority, in collaboration with global Asset Protection. Provide day to day guidance to the local team and enable cross functional relationships with P&C.
  • Work cross functionally with global teams (Communities of Expertise) to ensure all plans they have created are vertically and horizontally integrated into the business.
  • Significant contributor to the embedding of the EMEA P&C partnering and shared service operating model over the next few years, collaborating with the P&C Operations manager to identify priorities for the operations roadmap.
  • To decide and socialise the key strategic people priorities for short-, medium- and long-term success. Ensuring they are legal, culturally rich, aligned to the business growth priorities and on budget.
  • Support with senior or very complex ER where required.

Qualifications, skills and experience

  • Minimum 8-12 years’ HR experience.
  • BA Honours, CIPD qualified or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to translate long term vision into near term roadmap and priorities for the team.
  • Experience in a high growth environment.
  • Experience working across continental Europe is an advantage.
  • Experience in opening new markets in EMEA is an advantage
  • Experience working in a matrix.
  • Highly collaborative.
  • Successful in ambiguous environments.
  • Agile with juggling priorities and meeting deadlines.
