Job Overview:

The Head of People, APAC would work cross-functionally with Coursera’s global G&A teams to drive global expansion strategy in the region while building a strong business partner relationship with executives, senior leaders and employees, and develop a strong understanding of their business, their goals and their challenges in order to drive organizational performance and improve and maintain the quality of team culture in region.

Responsibilities:

  • Anticipate, assess and help address systemic issues through facilitation, coaching, and delivery of interventions; using relevant data to inform and create insight for all technology and operations teams globally 
  • Consults with line management, diagnose root causes and provide guidance and influencing leaders to drive business decisions
  • Coach leaders to navigate the complexities of managing teams, topics to include understanding total rewards, managing career development, developing a high performance culture, providing conflict resolution strategies to complex employee relations issues
  • Be a champion of Coursera’s culture and values, consulting with business leaders on strategic initiatives, working with cross-functional groups and the People team to solve complex organizational challenges, and be an integral part of the regional leadership team
  • Supports the design, development and execution of critical People initiatives and workstreams like workforce planning, compensation strategies, talent development and succession planning in addition to leadership and mentorship to People team members regionally and drive strong employer branding for Coursera across all APAC sub-regions

Basic Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of leadership experience with recent experience as a HR Business Partner supporting a senior executive
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, growth company where the business is constantly evolving
  • Experience working with data from diverse sources and turning data into insights
  • Demonstrated history in designing and facilitating large scale interventions for leadership development
  • Demonstrated ability to influence multiple stakeholders with competing priorities, managing complexity and implementing People programs at scale 
  • Thorough knowledge of local employment-related laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong business and HR acumen, ability to understand business strategies and use OD, talent management and other HR interventions to translate knowledge into appropriate HR and management actions
  • Effective consulting skills, ability to coach senior executive leaders, able to present practical solutions that are heard, understood and supported
  • Strong collaborator, managing multiple inputs and delivering solutions with a one-team mindset while maintaining a good sense of humor 
  • Ability to maximize relationships and communicate constructively when offering quality advice, counsel and insights
  • Outstanding listening and communication skills and demonstrated ability to use feedback to learn, change and grow
