About Lendable

Lendable is on a mission to make consumer finance amazing: faster, cheaper and friendlier.

We’re building one of the world’s leading fintech companies and are off to a strong start:

  • One of the UK’s newest unicorns with a team of > 300 people

  • Among the top 10 fastest-growing tech companies in the UK

  • Profitable since 2017

  • Backed by top investors including Balderton Capital and Goldman Sachs and most recently OTPP (Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan) in 2022

  • Loved by customers with the best reviews in the market (4.9/5 across 10,000s of reviews)

So far, we’ve rebuilt the Big Three consumer finance products from scratch: loans, credit cards and car finance. We get money into our customers’ hands in minutes instead of days.

We’re growing fast, and there’s a lot more to do: we’re going after the two biggest Western markets (UK and US) where trillions are held by big banks with dated systems and painful processes. We launched our loans product in the US in 2022 with more product launches to follow this year!

Join us if you want to

  • Take ownership across a broad remit. You are trusted to make decisions that drive a material impact on the direction and success of Lendable from day 1

  • Work in small teams of exceptional people who are relentlessly resourceful to solve problems and find smarter solutions than the status quo

  • Build the best technology in-house, using new data sources, machine learning, and AI to make machines do the heavy lifting

About the role

We are a fast-growing Fintech (from 80- 340 people in 2 years' time) with a wonderful people team of 6. We love the variety and diversity in our roles and enjoy helping each other out where needed. The role is best described as a “generalist role with a specialisation focused on employee relations”.

You will be the key go-to-person when it comes to fostering a positive work environment, promoting strong employee relationships, and ensuring the well-being, productivity and engagement of our talented people.

It does not just stop there. You get the chance to build a high-performance culture where people can thrive and succeed.

  • Your day-to-day: addressing employee concerns, resolving conflicts, and drive initiatives that enhance employee satisfaction and productivity. There will be good old admin involved too (helping out with onboarding, offboarding, background checks + contracts).

  • Your skills require an understanding of employment laws and regulations, exceptional communication skills, and a proactive and empathetic approach to problem-solving.

  • In addition to this you are able to make an even bigger impact, working on learning and development initiatives and other People projects together with the team.

Your team’s objectives

The People team is continuously working on innovating the ever-changing and fast-paced landscape for our Lendies. Making sure people are able to be passionate about what they do and can be their authentic selves.

How you’ll impact those objectives

  • You will serve as a trusted partner and champion of our employees, providing expert guidance and unwavering support on all matters related to employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management.

  • You will manage employee relations such as disciplinary, grievances, poor performance and parental leave

  • You will playan active role in exciting People projects, ranging from reimagining performance evaluation processes to spearheading talent management initiatives and driving transformational organisational development efforts.

  • You are able to adapt letter templates to reflect individual circumstances to support managers in concluding outcomes and sanctions

  • You are able to give commercially focused, expert advice to your stakeholders

  • Stay one step ahead of evolving employment laws and regulations, ensuring our practices remain compliant, forward-looking, and aligned with consumer duty standards.

  • You will partner with our forward-thinking People and management teams to design and deliver captivating training programs that inspire continuous growth and development, focusing on performance excellence, respectful workplace practices, and the power of diversity and inclusion.

What do you need to succeed in this role

  • You have (some) knowledge of employment law

  • You have an interest in human behaviour + psychology

  • You are highly organised with excellent attention to detail

  • You have a passion for helping people balanced with a commercial understanding of the business

  • You have at least 2 years of employee relations experience

  • You are resilient and have a naturally positive attitude toward solving complex problems

  • You are a self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset

  • You enjoy working with data and understand how to leverage the use of data

  • You have the ability to work effectively both as a member of the team and on your own initiative.

The interview process

We’re not a corporate so we try our best to get things moving as quickly as possible. For this role, we’d expect:

  • An introduction call with the Head of People

  • A short exercise to complete in your own time

  • Onsite Interview

    • Discuss the exercise you completed

    • Meet the team you’ll work with daily

    • Meet the broader exec team
