The role: As a Committee Member of the Museum Accreditation Panel, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the Accreditation Scheme for museums and galleries in the UK. This involves decision-making at regular award panel meetings, providing peer recognition, and ensuring the credibility of the scheme. The position requires a commitment of approximately 4 days a year, including panel meetings and preparatory work. Most meetings are hosted virtually, but some travel may be required for in-person meetings once a year.
Job requirements: We are seeking individuals with experience in the museum sector, particularly those who have worked with museums in Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland, National Museums, or University Museums. We encourage applications from disabled, D/deaf, neurodivergent individuals, and those from Black, Asian, and Ethnically Diverse backgrounds, as these groups are currently under-represented on the Panel.
Benefits: This voluntary role offers an opportunity for professional development and networking within the museum sector. While the position does not offer a salary, reasonable UK expenses incurred for in-person meetings will be reimbursed. An attendance allowance is available to support freelance, self-employed, and other unwaged Panel Members, with the possibility to claim up to £350 per day.
