Our Portfolio Management team oversees and develops business for the sale and trading of carbon credits and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). By working collaboratively with both our internal Sales and Projects teams, we play a crucial role in balancing the demand and supply of certificates, in order to best match the needs of our clients with our sourcing capabilities. Job summary:
The Portfolio Project Integrity team is a branch of the Offering Information Support (OIS), under Carbon Portfolio Functions. The key mandate is to provide the Carbon Portfolio Offering team with project-specific information that adds value to carbon deals. This information includes but is not limited to project integrity information.
The Associate Specialist’s day-to-day tasks will mainly focus on the organization, updating, and creation of Project Integrity Assessments and Summaries for the carbon projects in our portfolio. Project Assessments comprise a comprehensive and holistic analysis on the project, assessing and detailing the various risks involved (reputational, project design, methodology, location, environmental, social etc). Project Integrity Summaries are shorter 3-5 page deliverables that outline the ‘integrity’ of a project, meaning the benefits or potential determinants this project has on a range of metrics used in the Integrity Assessments. You will also be expected to allocate time to reading and attending webinars, to keep up-to-date with market and industry developments.
Main tasks & responsibilities:
- Support the creation of Integrity Assessments and Summariesfor Carbon Offset Projects
- Coordinate closely with the Portfolio Project Integrity Lead and Carbon Offering teams to meet the demand of Offering for Project Integrity-related materials
- Coordinate with related internal teams to maintain consistency and alignmentin research
- Stay up to date with evolving industry standards within carbon in regard to project integrity
- Support in the management, organisation and development of the Portfolio Integrity tools and database
Requirements:
Essential -
- Excellent oral and written skills in English
- At least 2-3 years relevant work experience as the role is relevantly junior
- A degree in a relevant field (preferred: Geography, Sustainability, Development,Environmental Sciences, or similar)
- Comfortable working in a nascent team where tasks and priorities that will evolve over time
- Comfortable working in an international position that works with teams across all regions and time zones
- Positive and proactive attitude
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge and experience in creating reports, research and analytical tasks
- Knowledge/experience of G Suite (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides etc.)
Desirable -
- Basic knowledge of the Carbon Market
- Diligent, reliable and proactive
- Holds a Masters Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, or any related field.
