YoungMinds, a leading advocate for youth mental health and policy change, is hiring a Policy and Public Affairs Officer. This key role within the External Affairs and Research team involves cultivating relationships, creating effective policy messages, and ensuring young people's voices are heard.

Role Summary:

  • Support the promotion of YoungMinds' policy priorities to parliamentarians and decision-makers
  • Write briefings, and maintain ongoing engagements
  • Work with the youth engagement team to facilitate their involvement in parliamentary forums
  • Develop policy positions in response to issues affecting youth mental health

Role Requirements:

  • Proactive identification of promotional opportunities
  • Coordinate correspondence, brief most officials, and represent YoungMinds at events
  • Research and development of policy recommendations

We are currently seeking a Policy and Public Affairs Officer to join our External Affairs and Research team. This role is crucial for developing our policy positions, engaging with key decision-makers, and maintaining relationships with other organizations in the sector. You will also collaborate with media and campaign colleagues to ensure our policy messaging is clear and impactful.

The role: As a Policy and Public Affairs Officer, you will support the promotion of YoungMinds' policy priorities to parliamentarians and other decision-makers. This involves writing briefings, developing relationships through meetings, and ongoing engagement. You will work with the youth engagement team to facilitate young people's involvement in parliamentary meetings and other forums. Additionally, you will develop policy positions in response to issues affecting young people's mental health, drawing on external evidence and our own research.

Job requirements: The position requires proactive horizon scanning to identify opportunities for promoting YoungMinds' policies and campaigns in Parliament. You will coordinate correspondence, briefings, and meetings with parliamentarians and their staff, and represent YoungMinds in relevant meetings and events. Research and development of policy recommendations are also key duties.
