About Lendable

Lendable is on a mission to make consumer finance amazing: faster, cheaper and friendlier.

We’re building one of the world’s leading fintech companies and are off to a strong start:

  • One of the UK’s newest unicorns with a team of just over 250 people
  • Among the top 10 fastest-growing tech companies in the UK

  • Profitable since 2017
  • Backed by top investors including Balderton Capital and Goldman Sachs

  • Loved by customers with the best reviews in the market (4.8/5 across 10,000s of reviews)

So far, we’ve rebuilt the Big Three consumer finance products from scratch: loans, credit cards and car finance. We get money into our customers’ hands in minutes instead of days.

We’re growing fast, and there’s a lot more to do: we’re going after the two biggest Western markets (UK and US) where trillions worth of these are held by big banks with dated systems and painful processes.

Join us if you want to

  • Take ownership across a broad remit. You are trusted to make decisions that drive a material impact on the direction and success of Lendable from day 1
  • Work in small teams of exceptional people, who are relentlessly resourceful to solve problems and find smarter solutions than the status quo
  • Build the best technology in-house, using new data sources, machine learning and AI to make machines do the heavy lifting

About the role

Lendable is expanding its use of artificial intelligence, specifically focusing on Large Language Models (LLMs). We are hiring a Full Stack Developer who will be dedicated to enhancing and developing our AI capabilities. We are looking for a 3 month contractor to support on this initiative

What we’re looking for

  • Proven full stack development skills, with experience in both front-end and back-end: 3 years+ JavaScript (Next.js / React), 3 years+ Python. Experience of using AI models to deliver professional projects.

  • Existing interest in AI, preferably with familiarity with OpenAI, LangChain, vector databases, and experience in developing LLM applications.

  • A fast learner who keeps up-to-date with tech trends and uses the most suitable tools for each task.

  • An innovative approach, with the ability to quickly turn ideas into working proofs of concept.

  • Positive attitude, willing to lend a hand and take on challenges.

  • Desired but not essential: Experience in the fintech or some other heavily regulated industry.

What you'll do

  • Work on various projects that employ AI/LLM technology, which may include

    • Creating new tools, based on OpenAI, open-source or other models

    • Working with our in-house data scientists to train and fine-tune new models

    • Enhancing features of our existing tool, LendieGPT (a UI wrapper for OpenAI models), such as adding a web browsing capability

    • Integrating with or on top of third party solutions, possibly utilising agents, or with workflow tools

    • Creation of AI-based concepts of products and tools that can be handed to developers to productionise.

  • Fully develop at least one tool in production in the duration of the 3-month project, to be used on an everyday basis by Lendable employees, based on prioritisation done with a product manager and other stakeholders

  • Document approach to using AI/LLM tooling for use with future projects.

  • Work closely with a product manager to assess the feasibility and impact of new AI/LLM-based ideas.

Interview Process

  • Screening Call: A brief conversation with our HR team to verify your qualifications and provide an overview of the role.

  • Technical Interview: A session with one of our senior developers to evaluate your technical skills, problem-solving approach, and understanding of AI/LLM technologies.

  • Product Manager Interview: A discussion with a Product Manager to understand how you would approach converting ideas into deliverables and your ability to work within a team.
