Technical Co-Founder - Data Science (Ogma)

Since 2015, Founders Factory's 300 portfolio companies - 80 built in the Studio -  have raised $720mm follow-on funding from notable investors, including NfX, Coatue, Forerunner, Tencent, Mubadala and firstminute Capital.

Founders Factory's newest concept in the Mission Studio (backed by Nesta) is Ogma. 

The Opportunity:

At least 10% of children in the UK have a speech, language and communication need (with delays disproportionately affecting disadvantaged children). As language is fundamental for learning and social interaction, the effects of early communication difficulties can extend far beyond childhood, leading to poorer literacy, mental health and employability in adulthood. Early intervention is crucial, however in the current system, children are left waiting months before they can even be assessed. We see an opportunity to use advances in AI, LLM and Conversational AI to disrupt the status quo of speech therapy by driving efficiencies, reducing cost and increasing access. We will deliver a high value, high impact service for less whilst, intrinsically, (i) generating a rare dataset (that currently does not exist) and (ii) self-training its models to provide a unique competitive advantage to be the market leader in AI speech therapy solution.

We are currently pre-product with the aim of launching an MVP to the market by December and start commercialising in Q1 2024. This is an exciting chance to get in early, shape the direction of the company and develop an impactful product together with the founder, Louise.

💪 We are looking for a Technical Co-Founder who will:

Bring an extensive knowledge of machine learning, language modelling, data science and platform development to the table  Work with the CEO to build out the technical vision for Ogma, with an actionable plan Nurture a culture of rigorous data science, including responsible AI, and scientific excellence Build our customer-facing platform and B2B data product in a user-centric and data-centric way Have a strong product, as well as a technical, mindset to get stuck in with iterative building and learning Be a communicative team player, able to co-ideate effectively with the CEO and engage with key stakeholders (including investors) Work quickly, and adaptively without fear of venturing into the unknown, to push innovation boundaries Have previous experience of building and growing a top-tier technical team  Ideally has experience of the fundraising process within an early stage startup Be motivated by the mission, A Fairer Start Bring no ego, and be excited about working for an energetic, innovative startup

✅ We’ll look to assess on:

Significant experience with Machine learning and AI; natural language processing and speech recognition would be preferred Significant experience in technology/product leadership roles Having excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity Demonstration of a solid grasp of responsible AI, ideally within a healthcare and/or child safeguarding context A Product mindset and the ability to prototype; not afraid to be scrappy and find shortcuts Ability to diagnose problems quickly and foresee potential issues The ability to execute with agility, but plan for scale A user-centric approach and being customer-obsessed Being a strong communicator and team player  Driven by purpose and the learning opportunity
