Why Arka Learning?
Arka Learning is an exciting new startup with a bold vision to transform supplementary education in the UK. Our mission is to deliver outstanding educational programs that are accessible to parents and bring joy to learning for students. We will do this by building a network of innovative learning centres across the UK, initially supporting primary age students with Maths and English.
Arka Learning is being launched by the founders and Directors of Keystone Tutors, one of the UK’s leading private tutoring companies.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking our first Centre Director to join us in leading this transformative adventure in education.
We are looking for an entrepreneurial go-getter who is as excited about education as we are, and who is ready to help build the blueprint for Arka Learning’s future. The successful candidate will be happy to roll up their sleeves and get involved in all areas of building the business, and will also be hungry for development and professional growth.
There is potential with this role to progress to a Regional Manager role and subsequently a senior operations role relatively quickly due to the scope of the role and the exciting stage that you will be joining at.
The Role
You’ll work directly with the Founders to launch and then manage our first centre, making it a success on which future centres will build. This is an entrepreneurial role with a high level of responsibility and accountability from the outset. It presents an opportunity to craft and implement our vision, as well as to progress with the development and growth of the company.
Pre-Launch Phase:
During the pre-launch phase you will be responsible for the following, in partnership with the Founders:
- Recruitment of Assistant Centre Directors and tutors
- Devising an induction, training and development plan for Assistant Centre Directors and tutors
- Curriculum development and implementation plan
- Development of sales and marketing plan
- Development and implementation of operating systems and processes
- Oversight of fit out of our first site
Post-Launch Phase:
Once the centre is opened you will become the senior manager of the centre, responsible for the following:
- Managing a team of 2 full-time Assistant Centre Directors and part-time tutors
- Oversight of student learning plans and education delivery
- Sales and marketing to bring in new members
- Business development and growth
Contract, Salary and Benefits
- Full-time, permanent contract
- Start date: October / November 2023
- Salary: £35k upwards (dependent on experience)
- Pension: 3% employers’ contribution
- Holiday: 28 days + your birthday off
- Cycle to work scheme
- Enhance parental leave after 3 years tenure
Working Hours
Our first centre will be open 6 days per week, of which you will be required to work 5 days per week. In the post-launch phase you will be required to work on Saturdays as well as four other weekdays. Once the Assistant Centre Directors are established in their roles there will be scope for moving to working Monday to Friday, as well as reducing evening work.
A typical working week post-launch will be as follows:
- Tuesday: 11am - 8pm
- Wednesday: 11am - 8pm
- Thursday: 11am - 8pm
- Friday: 9am - 6pm
- Saturday: 9am - 5pm
Location
We are launching our first centre in High Wycombe, with the goal of opening in early 2024. Thereafter we will be looking to establish further centres, initially in West London and along the M4 and M40 corridors. Our expectation is that there will be the potential to progress to a Regional Manager role and subsequently a senior operations role relatively quickly, allowing for more flexibility in terms of working hours and location.
All successful applicants will be required to undertake reference checks and an Enhanced DBS Check. This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. It is an offence to apply if you have been barred from engaging in regulated activity with children.
