We are looking to invest in 50 founders to build mission-led businesses at Zinc to improve the health of people and/or the planet.
Are you are excited by the potential for scalable global solutions? Are you driven by the desire to use your skills, experience and energy to have a personal impact on the social issues that really matter to you? If the answer is yes, then join our our cohort in June 2024 with 50 other people who share your passion to co-found a commercial, mission-driven business from scratch.

The Zinc Venture Builder is a full time, 12 month platform that exists to build brand new, commercial, mission-driven companies that tackle the biggest social challenges.

Why join a Zinc Venture Builder?
Zinc provides you with a tried and tested process for creating your new business with a platform of support and capital. The Zinc Venture Builder attracts a unique mix of Founders with a proposition specifically designed to build a mission-led venture:
Phase 1: Creating your business with Zinc.
To create your new business, Zinc provides you with:
- Cash: £13,200 stipend to each founder for 6 months.
- Co-founders: Access to a curated group of potential co-founders, who are all ready to start a new venture in environment and health missions
- Expertise: Support from the Zinc team and 100+ Visiting Fellows, who are experts in science, domain, technology, business, funding, marketing.
- Personal development: Executive coaching on your personal journey
- Cohort and community: Support of an immediate cohort of 50 founders all building new ventures in lock step with you, plus engagement with Zinc’s wider community of portfolio companies, partners and community members
- Venture-building platform: Access to the processes, content and partnerships you need to build your venture
- In exchange for this support, Zinc aims to have a 15% equity stake in your venture.
Phase 2: Launch your venture with Zinc’s investment
After 4 to 6 months, when you’ve created your new venture and you have conviction in an ambitious vision for solving an important problem in health and/or environment, we will have the opportunity to invest in your new venture.
If we share your conviction in the vision and the team, we will back the launch of your new venture with:
Capital: £300,000 investment in your venture, comprising:
- £150,000 initial investment
- £150,000 follow-on investment in your next funding round
Support: Intensive support over the next 6 to 12 months to accelerate your venture, building the product, getting traction, winning funding and extending the team through, including:
- Expertise: Customised programme of support from the Zinc team and 100+ Visiting Fellows, who are experts in science, domain, technology, business, funding, marketing.
- Personal and team development: Executive coaching on your personal and team journeys
- Cohort and community: Support of an immediate cohort of 25-30 ventures all building new ventures in lock step with you, plus engagement with Zinc’s wider community of portfolio companies, partners and 25,000 community members
- Fundraising: Action plan and collaboration to raise funds through investment, grants and revenue
- Venture-building platform: Access to the processes, content and partnerships you need to build your venture
