Mrs Wordsmith is a unique learning company that combines science proven learning methods with Hollywood-quality animation and game design. Our mission is to make educational resources as exciting as popular movies and games, to create a motivating and fun learning environment. As a part of our team, you'll join a group of artists, writers, curriculum specialists, and game designers spread across London, Copenhagen, and via consultants in Mexico City, Paris, and Los Angeles. We're looking for a highly technical and passionate game developer to collaborate on the development of Word Tag and other learning products.
Role summary:

  • The core of this role is game programming, mainly focusing on object interaction and game mechanics.
  • You will significantly contribute to feature development and make impacts on the final product.

Role Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years game development experience, C#/.NET knowledge, Unity experience, maths, algorithms, and data structures knowledge.
  • Comfortable with Git and solid understanding of programming best practices.
  • Prior experience with working in large code bases collaboratively. Engine development experience, having shipped multiple games, performance-aware programming experience, real-time rendering and backend experience, and game mentorship are an advantage.
  • You should be an avid gamer.

The role For this role, we are looking for a person with excellent technical skills, a deep understanding of game mechanics, and a passion for getting the feel of a feature just right. You are probably playing a lot of games in your spare time. The feature development process of Word Tag is very much a collaborative effort where your input will have a significant impact on the resulting feature.

Job requirements The core requirement is a real love for game programming. The complexity and emergence that usually arises when multiple game objects are interacting is exciting to you. You are probably also interested in systemic game design. Requirements include 6+ years of game development experience, strong C#/ .NET knowledge, Unity experience, well-founded in maths, algorithms, and data structures, comfortable with Git, solid understanding of programming best practices, and prior experience with working in large code bases collaboratively. Nice to haves include engine development experience, shipped multiple games, performance-aware programming experience, realtime rendering experience, experience leading/mentoring more junior engineers, backend experience, and being an avid gamer.
